Man, according to them, it seems as if everything that made Rearmed challenging has been diluted for the sequel. If this is so, then it's a shame that Capcom had to give in to those complaining about how difficult the first game was. Gaming is really becoming soft nowadays.
CVG: "Who do you see as your competition?"
Chet Faliszek: "We don't really think of it that way, we just look at what we like and worry about that. We're our first customers; we don't look at what someone else is doing and allow it to influence us."
Man, this needs to be echoed throughout the industry. Need more visionaries.
Because just in the same manner that there's a niche fanbase on PC, there's also a niche fanbase on consoles that has been longing for a milsim to appear, contrary to your (and sadly, several developers') beliefs that there's no audience for the genre on consoles.
And of course anyone who's looking for a COD-like experience is going to complain about a game like OF regardless of what platform it's on. Not to mention, the majority of the complaints fr...
Codemasters has totally strayed away from what made the OF series. I really hope that Bohemia starts developing for consoles.
Ageed. I haven't had such a reaction to something revolutionary in videogaming since the one I had upon experiencing MGS for the first time. If there's anything I would question about the author's piece is that he mentions "Some may feel I put this too low on the list and I can agree with you; it’s a game that probably deserves more praise than any other on this list. But look at it this way, this gripping action thriller paved the way for even greater games.", but never...
Like Marco said, there's definitely fun to be had. But the lag and freezing issues are hard to ignore. I've owned the game since launch, and it's sad that, to this day, EA/DICE refuse to patch these issues.
I've preordered ME2 but it hasn't shipped yet. Hopefully this is just an isolated issue. But apparantly the freezing issues are not confined to the PS3 version. I just did a Google search on "ME2 freezing", and as it turns out, this has been an issue that dates back as far as January of last year. Seeing that this is an EA published game, it doesn't surprise me. BF1943 freezes every other match for me.
"CF: Internally we really loved it but internally we really feared the sequel at first and making sure that, you know, how do you make it bigger and just not make it harder, how do you make it bigger and just not make it….duller? So instead what we’ve done is we’ve made the single player a massive game, bigger than we even thought it would be. It’s really dense. It has a layer of dense player experience not like any game we’ve ever delivered." - Chet Faliszek

I say this because, as it has been mentioned in earlier comments, the over the shoulder view in Twin Snakes diluted some of the challenge for MGS1 because the original game was designed with over head perspective in mind. Meaning I was only referring to the viewpoint/perspective of Twin Snakes vs MGS1 in my previous comment. The graphics for Twin Snakes, on the other hand, I'm perfectly fine with Konami giving an HD makeover.
Being that the only games I don't own in the canon series are the PSP versions (PO and PW), I would pass out if that were to happen.
@ TooTall19
I hope they would leave MGS1 in its current view. We don't need an HD version of Twin Snakes.
Agreed. And who knows - if this becomes true, and they do release Subsistence, maybe Konami will re-open the servers for MGO (the original). I hated when they shut down the servers at that time.
@ Kingscorpion81
You beat me to the punch, lol.
@ Myst
I can say there's at least some semi-truth to this. I preordered ME2 through Amazon, and it has yet to even have SHIPPED. If nothing else, I can attribute that to Amazon selling out.
@ Bathyj
Totally agree with everything you've said. And I posted a similar comment in another related article.

How about more of a challenge, and more importantly, a difficulty setting. I've been able to breeze through AC:B without upgrading weapons or armor. The series has a great structure, but it definitely needs a shot in the arm in terms of difficulty.
It's nice to see a change from the norm in gaming. Hope this does make it Stateside.
Nice read.
Good article.
Agreed. The non-optional easy difficulty setting is the only thing keeping my anticipation down for AC3. Otherwise, great series.
