How about more of a challenge, and more importantly, a difficulty setting. I've been able to breeze through AC:B without upgrading weapons or armor. The series has a great structure, but it definitely needs a shot in the arm in terms of difficulty.
It's nice to see a change from the norm in gaming. Hope this does make it Stateside.
Nice read.
Good article.
Well, if that be the case, then "overhyped" should've been the proper terminology to use. Not "overrated", as the majority of those games were adequately reviewed IMO.
Quite an arguable list you have there. And sadly you can add regenerative health and faulty/buggy hardware/software to that list.
Hadn't heard much about these games, but what you have here has definitely gotten my attention.
"In commemorating the 20th anniversary of the legendary NEOGEO MVS & AES hardware, SNK PLAYMORE is pleased to announce the worldwide PlayStation Store release of “NEOGEO Station” titles, exclusively on PlayStation 3 and PSP*."
I wonder what date will this be hitting the States? I've been waiting for a Samurai Showdown port for the longest.
Would it sell? Probably not as much as on PC. But truth of the matter is that some of us console players would love to see a change in the norm for what's available at the moment. And if this does become a reality, I hope its not dumbed down just because its on consoles.
Two words...
Feudal Japan.
I mean, for crying out loud, ninja and "Assassin's" Creed go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly. Think Tenchu on steroids if you will.
Good article.
Yeah, I thought the gameplay didn't leave much to keep me interested. Would be nice to see an actual G1 game though.
Yeah, but with the flood of run-and-gun shooters on the market coupled with the lack of a quality milsim/tactical shooter on console, I am at least willing to give them a chance and see if they've learned anything from their mistakes with Dragon Rising.
Goldeneye 64 will always hold the Bond crown. Nightfire was a good game in it's own rights. But I would have to give #2 to Everything or Nothing. That game still get spins to this day. But in light of the article, I would have to say that as long as Activision have the license, then the answer is a resounding NO - regardless of who is cast as Bond.
FNR4 was one of the best games I played from EA Sports this gen. I'm looking forward to Champion.
"sometimes people concentrate on gameplay too much when that isnt what this game is about"
"people who buy games for replay value or MP, or Coop and not for creativity and originality are ruining the industry "
"lol gaming has gone down the pan when all people care about is gameplay. and I cant believe people saying that gameplay is the be all and end all "
gillri, please. Stop while you're ahead.
@ Dramscus
That may be true, but I've seen it moreso this generation that any other gen before it.
The license exclusivity ends in 2012 which is, technically, the Super Bowl (which means sometime around February 2013).
Yeah, but at this point, no matter how rusty or not the developers may actually be (if the original NFL developers are still intact, for that matter), the competition is still needed. The sports genre is niche enough - don't need exclusivity of any kind to make it worse. I'm tired of seeing Madden being the only current option for football gaming - even though I've been holding tightly on to my copy of NFL 2K5 for the past six years.
@ Bathyj
Totally agree with everything you've said. And I posted a similar comment in another related article.
