For anyone who's experienced several generations of gaming, it has undoubtedly become too easy - particularly with the current gen. With regenerative health being the biggest offender.

I'm sooo happy this made it. Admittedly, I was a little leery at first because they seemed kinda slow and sketchy on details about system availability, and for this I didn't pledge as intended. But after seeing late that it will be available for all HD machines (PC included), I hate that I passed on my contributions. The game made it nevertheless, and I will show any support I can as the game progresses through its developmental stages. Really good news for console gamers looking desp...

Yeah, I noticed that, but what I'm more concerned about is will it have the same emotional impact as Kara. Gotta admit, that rather impressive short left a lot of people wanting more. And understandably so. Cage has quite the expectations to fill just based off a little 7 minute demo. But I'm sure he and QD will deliver.

Good article. I mostly agree with everything presented here with the lone exception of one single line...
"...there’s no denying that the gaming experience has improved vastly over the years..."
Far too many instances including the issues mentioned in the article, along with other issues such as regenerative health, COD influence and the oversaturation of shooters, and the casualization of gaming have me feeling otherwise. Nonetheless, good read.

Yeah, when I saw the article, I first thought they were releasing a new version...at least one with shoulder button functionality. But like you've said, I've owned this since '08.

"But, I don't know of any retailer specific DLC that involves a new series of missions."

-Gamespot
L.A. Noire is the latest game to dole out in-game content as retailer-exclusive preorder bonuses, as Rockstar Games today laid out five separate incentive packages designed to draw players to pick up the game from specific stores.

GameStop and Wal-Mart landed the marquee bonuses, as customers purchasing the game from either store before or...

If "Kara" is any indication, then he should be.

I'm curious as to what's their vision of a hardcore tactical shooter. If they're talking along the lines OFP or the ARMA series, they have my attention.

Yeah, the same thing I was thinking. As if the series wasn't simple enough. And even worse, there's no difficulty setting. I beat AC:BH without upgrading weaponry or armor. I was done with the series after that.

@kneon
Lol. That is so true. I understand that this is just a tech demo, but this is a REALLY nice concept to base a game around. They should just build from what they have here. I haven't been this anticipated for a game since Portal 2.

Damn, I'm pumped after watching that. Seemed to be more impactful than The Casting, though it's just a tech demo.

Nice find.

"What we're trying to create is really interactive entertainment for an adult audience. We don't pretend that we're cleverer than anyone else - but there are so many games out there that provide limited entertainment, and we try to make something for a more mature audience."

THANK YOU, CAGE. Need more devs with that mindset.

@dead eye
I know what you're saying. Just the other day I was running low on ammo chasing a support guy, all the while spamming the select button. It took him half the length of Caspian Border before he figured out that I had been asking for ammo.

Agreed. I haven't cared much for Live since Live '03. But having said that, I, for one, can't wait to see what EA will bring to the table. The 2K series has become far too complacent to my liking with the tug-and-pull controls, overbearing animation, and cheap AI. I welcome the competition.

Let's just hope that at some point there will be another NFL game not named Madden. This exclusivity bs is beyond annoying.

Alpha, you are so right. Operation Flashpoint is a game that comes to mind while reading your post. Dragon Rising, while not the most polished, provided a hc enough experience, that at the very least, showed great potential for future releases. There was nothing like it on consoles, and I couldn't applaud that more. Sadly, the follow up to DR, Red River, was influenced by COD numbers, and Codemasters decided it was wise to "streamline" the game in a feeble attempt to garner more...

Good list. I would compound Ninja Gaiden with the original NES trilogy. Those games were no cakewalks, either.

"I got a wired one"

My bad, Pik. That's a 510. The 710 is what I have. You're doing good to get the wired version. Wish I had known better. Don't know why you got a disagree.
