Rather "interesting" list.
But if I had to choose, I would rank them as...

5. Batman: Arkham City
4. The Adventures of Batman & Robin
2. Batman (Genesis)**
2. Batman (NES)**
1. Batman Returns (SNES)

** It's hard to rank either of the 1990 Batman games over the other. Both were great.

The PS2 released in October 2000. I know this because I worked at Circuit City at the time, and it was one of the most memorable product releases at CC during my time there. But as others have alluded, best to just wait till E3 and let Sony themselves give the goods on a proper release date.

Very nice piece. Sadly, the stove is never too hot for publishers. And as a result, they won't quit this practice until the next iteration of a "COD crowd" is forged from the masses by means of another game.

"How would a black guy play kratos,rofl."

But yet, the creator of the series himself stated that he'd like to see Djimon Hounsou play Kratos...

@ritsuka
While I agree completely with what you're saying, I think the studio president is speaking more about how laxed FPS gamers have gotten when it comes to pure skills due to perks and other killstreak rewards found in twitch shooters like COD. He's not talking about how every other developer's trying to copy the COD formula.

The game itself was plagued with bugs among other issues, but I'd like to see a sequel, or spiritual successor, to Alpha Protocol...if only just to experience the potential of the game done right. There have not been many to take a shot at a modern day RPG.

@chadboban
I'd give you 6 more "agrees" if I could. I've become fairly grumpy at the mere mention of sequels mostly due to the abuse of sequelitis this gen. But ED is one of a select few slate of games that I would DIE to see a sequel to...that alongside Heavenly Sword.

Silicon Knights had me worked up a few years back with rumors swirling about a "next gen psychological thriller". Then I caught news of SK folding. Bummer.

I couldn't have been happier when I read that blog entry. Just to piggyback off your post, here's an extension of that statement for those who missed the official announcement...

"The Last of Us is an ambitious project. In many ways it may be Naughty Dog’s most ambitious project to date – brand new universe and cast of characters, brand new tech, brand new genre, not to mention it’s easily the longest campaign Naughty Dog has ever made.

As we ent...

This is one of my few top games this gen. Would love to see the studio take another crack at that concept and technology.

I thought it was just all in my mind and kept ho hum about it. It's more assuring to hear someone else experience the same thing.

I agree. I have a Phat and a Slim, and overall performance-wise, the Slim is better...especially in the online department.

Nice article. I do think this is a result of consumer naivety, and sadly, I feel that it will only get worse from here on.

Nice find!! I already have ME2 and was contemplating on picking up the Trilogy to get the complete set. You just made this a no-brainer. I'll just snatch 1 from off the PS store.

Edit: @Solderone
Bummer...my store doesn't have it either.

For backwards compatibility's sake, they could. I wouldn't say "should" though.

I'm rocking the same boat. I got a gaming pc late last year so I just have to update the gfx card. As far as consoles go, i'll be playing the wait-and-see-what-interests-me -the-most game, as I hold no brand loyalty. But if it turns out anything like this gen did, it'll be PS again - considering that gaming doesn't become any more casual than it has gotten.

Only a few of those (namely Heavy Rain, Ico/Shadow, LBP, and Okami) I would consider to be truly groundbreaking, especially considering that some of those titles originally released on competing platforms. There are several others I would say are more groundbreaking than what's mentioned here. Alomg the likes of MGS1, GTA3, Gran Turismo, RE2 just to name a few
I guess it all depends on one's viewpoint of "groundbreaking".

The focus on melee combat is what separates Dogs from the GTA series. IMO, a much more satisfying experience than GTAIV. A sequel would be welcomed as long as the publisher doesn't rush development in an attempt at creating a potential cash cow.

@Yi-Long

Fully agree with you on that. BF1943 is actually the only twitch shooter that I find interest in mostly because the only thing that separates you from the next player was pure skill - there were no rank upgrades and perks nonsense for any player that invests a decade's worth of playing time. My time is very limited as is, so it was nice knowing that in that game, everyone was on even kill in terms of "leveling up".

Like many others abov...

Never really been much into racing games, but I've always had an interest in this. Maybe a good start for a first time racing sim buyer. Seeing that the XL Edition has dropped below 20USD, I'll be picking this up soon.

"The game's free-to-play business model may make it an attractive game to try, but Reid admits most players will never pay for in-game items.

'We expect the vast majority of our players not to spend a penny. But those people who pay nothing are still making the game better. Every one is another node, another player for others to interact with.' "
