Surely you're not so narrow-minded that you can't accept that BC is, regardless of your own personal opinion, something a lot of gamers have wanted -- and have been begging for-- for many, many years?

Well, to be fair, right now XBO gamers are getting gimped games already -- more or less. Scorpio is basically Spencer's what-should-have-been Xbox that Don Mattrick ignored while instead targeting those families with their Wiis from 2007 by releasing a half-assed 360 upgrade with emphasis on TV.
Let me try to decipher what you just said. MS announcing Scorpio and it's specs now is 'killing' xbox, yet according to you if Sony then matches Scorpio's specs, follows the exact same path of what MS is doing (slim this year, midcycle next) then... that's a good business strategy for Sony?
Not necessarily. Ever heard of consumer confidence? Sometimes just announcing something and getting people's appetite wet boosts new customers to invest now with optimism for the future. Not saying it'll happen, just that MS aren't twiddling their thumbs til Scorpio comes out.
The Japanese market for consoles is almost negligible these days, it's so small. Also, NX might do well in Japan but the uphill battle if faces west of there is no joke. No 3rd party support and the NX will be DOA just like the Wii U.
I've said this a thousand times but it still applies: The NX's biggest obstacle is 3rd party support. And that's going to be an uphill battle no matter what.

I guess I'm in the minority but I think this is a really smart move. This is the elite controller: console version. You won't miss out not having a scorpio, but if you're like me and are eyeing 4K tvs... the scorpio sounds VERY appealing as I don't want to get a 4K tv just to play 1080p games upscaled. That's a waste. People seem so butt hurt about scorpio but it would've been so much worse for MS to announce a whole new system, completely separate from XBO.
We know how this goes... he hates everything he's not currently working on. Soon as he's doing another MS project, Scorpio will be the greatest thing ever.
But the devs have already had this option all along with this gen and time and time again we see the 360/One versions basically the same, just enhanced graphics. That'll likely be the case here with scorpio vs one. They made it very clear, there won't be 'scorpio exclusives' and that ALL games will work on One/S/Scorpio. So no one is being alienated at all.
I don't know what is mixed about any of this... you're not missing ANYTHING if you have and/or get an Xbox One / One S. IF you happen to be someone with a 4K TV, then you have something to look forward to. If you don't have a 4K tv, Phil said you won't find any benefit having a Scorpio on a 1080p screen. Maybe the goal of this new game is to establish an identity for RE again. And just maybe they don't want to keep living in the past and want to move things forward. Maybe you like the approach, maybe you don't... but sometimes franchises need to go back to the drawing board.
It was nothing like what GOW games have been like. It was slowed way down, Kratos looked more grounded. It's clear he saved this kid (TLOU) and despite helping the kid, he clearly is distant to the kid because he lost his own family (TLOU) and is a dick (TLOU). Those are STRONG similarities. Even the camera angle a lot of the time is straight up TLOU. This new GOW is to the old GOW games what TLOU was to Uncharted.
Felt the same way about Forza Horizon 1. That hip bro scene just makes me ill.

you still can and like Phil has also said, if you're playing on scorpio, you'll be playing the scorpio version even if you're on 1080p. Maybe that's 1080/60 or maybe it's faster load times, better draw distance, etc. Up to the devs.
