This IS good news - PS3 to 360 ports are usually pretty good where 360 to PS3 ports have mixed results.
Not everyone has a budget to dual-develop on both platforms. This is the next best thing.
I'm not finding any reviews that I've read to be biased.
The main criticisms so far are that the main campaign is a little short (8-10 hours), the ending is slightly disappointing, and there isn't a terrible lot of innovation from the tried and true GOW formula. ALL OF THESE are legitimate criticisms. They don't really involve bias or subjectivity (with the exception of the ending).
Bottom line - does this change anything at all? Will you not buy it? What is eve...
Bayonetta was awesome. It was the most fun that I've had with a game in a VERY long time and deserved the high reviews that it got in my opinion. And it is very possible (even if you can't fathom it) that people could like it more than GOW3.
Don't hate, say it's BS or call them fanboys just because you disagree with their opinion.
Scores are great so far, but I would be suspect if they were all 10's or high 9's - those games never live up to what they should be (I'm looking at you GTAIV) and I feel that GOW3 WILL.
I CANNOT WAIT!!!
I would go absolutely nuts if it was a sequel to One - a little-remembered game by Visual Concepts from the late 90's. You had this rage meter that made your shots more powerful the more things you destroyed and killed. It was honestly "one" of the most fun and destructive games I can ever remember.
Here's a video of the chaos:

It will sell better on 360 in the US due to the console gap here. It's a dead heat in Europe, so expect about even numbers. Japan is all PS3 (obviously).
So basically, (in terms of the 3 major markets), it's going to be whether the gap in America can overcome the amount they sell in Japan. They're at 2 or 3 mill in Japan right now IIRC? I don't really see there being that much of a disparity here, so worldwide sales will probably be PS3, but relatively close.

This is awesome. Finally those b-words at SVER will have to actually defuse things the right way.
@Raztad I went veteran back to Valor. Level 18 or 19 now I think? Even more fun the second time around.
It looks good. I'm still getting it on PS3 though, mainly for the less-compressed CGI.
@Syronicus
Your commment was fine until you threw in:
"Disagree if you are a flaming Xbox fanboy. "
Totally unnecessary.
Microsoft's smartest/shrewdest move would be to have the next XBOX go with a proprietary optical disc or one of the super storage disc types currently in development, yet still have Blu-ray disc compatibility.
I can't see Microsoft wanting to pay royalties to Sony for every disc that they sell. Not that it would matter all that much (i.e. Sony computers running Windows OS), but it's something that I could see Microsoft doing. Besides - Nintendo has had success with their propr...
If this were any other game, I'd agree with your brainwashed fans of shooters comment.
However, this is one of those games that actually tries to be different from the rest of them. Whether or not it succeeded in the end graphics-wise, sales-wise, review-wise, or just as a good game, at least it is different from most FP games out there. I mean, it's no Mirror's Edge or (original) Chronicles of Riddick for innovation in a oversaturated genre, but it could've very easily been a ...
Graphics really shouldn't change from Alpha to Gold, as the models, textures, and such are part of the base of the game (unless there are specific changes that need to be made).
The fluidity of the animations, the framerate, the screen not tearing - those are the big improvements that you see by the time you get to Gold. There are others of course, but "better graphics" typically isn't one.
And you certainly won't see major differences if you compare st...
People who whine about disc-space limitations are idiots.
The 360 game out in 2005 and was developed a while before that. There was no Blu-ray or HD DVD option because the technology wasn't in place to get it onto a console - especially one that was a rival to Sony.
The PS3 came out in 2006 and was developed by Sony, who also happened to develop Blu-ray. I hope that I don't have to explain how much sense putting Blu-ray into it made.
So the 360 ha...
The 360 really doesn't need an answer to Heavy Rain. No matter how great or innovative the game ends up being, there's no way that it's going to become a huge seller that would make Microsoft feel the need to make their own version of it.
I can't wait to play it, but I have no delusions that it's going to sell like Halo, MW, Uncharted, or even Killzone. Microsoft simply doesn't make or sponsor games just because they are innovative or artistic - they want money and a bigger mar...
It's not that easy...
I currently have on my TV stand:
1. Cable Box
2. DVD Player (The best of the upscalers - better than PS3 or XBOX)
3. PS2
4. PS3
5. XBOX360
6. NES
I couldn't put a stereo receiver for surround sound on there to save my life (and it's a HUGE stand - fits my 62 inch Samsung). But I COULD if I could get rid of my PS2 (and yes, I still play it often). I have never sold, traded, or otherwise let go of ANY game that ...
That's one thing that I hate about the XBOX Guide:
The surprises when you close it :)
First off I am stoked for this game, but I wouldn't call it THE reason to buy a PS3 if you don't have one already.
With games out now like MAG, MGS4, Uncharted 2 and those that are coming like GOWIII and GT5, (and of course, Blu ray), a more appropriate thing to say would be "Heavy Rain is one of the MANY reasons to buy a PS3" or something like that.
While I agree that you can't really compare Alan Wake with Heavy Rain, it certainly isn't because of the character development.
Psychological thrillers are rooted in the audience become vested in the the protagonists (and antagonists, in many cases). Remedy knows this and have certainly created the experience accordingly.
Case in point - I haven't played the game, but in seeing a handful of videos, I feel like I know Rusty (the cop) a bit and am concerned for him...
Definitely seems to be love or hate on HR. I'm still buying it.
Sidenote: Fanboys can't call bias on this review.
It may not be touching LIVE for now, but at least it's moving in the right direction.
If you take the yearly fee that Microsoft charges out of the equation, LIVE is definitely superior. However, that's not to say that just because PSN is free that it sucks or is barebones. True, there are a lot of things in LIVE that I wish were in PSN, but I do have faith that eventually they will be there. There's been so many improvements in the last year. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, bu...
This is a huge relief for me! I was kinda concerned that it would be short from those reviews. Glad to hear from the horse's mouth that that is not the case.
Now fingers crossed for a non-disappointing ending (as some reviews claimed).
