I've played SOCOM since the first installment, and for anybody to even say that Confrontation brings back memories of SOCOM 2 or even compares to it is out of their mind.
As for the issues with the game, the lag is gone. The connection issues are gone. Now, we get to see that the game really just isn't very good. Here's a list of crap that is wrong with the game that I run into EVERY TIME I PLAY.
1. Can't shoot out of certain windows even though your view should be u...
The camera was still a bit wonky, but the framerate was corrected via patch. As for storyline? Who the heck plays Ninja Gaiden (or a similar game) for storyline? It's about all-out visceral action - plain and simple.
I loved the first on 360. It's a shame that PS3 owners aren't (apparently) getting to experience the second. However, it does make sense a bit, as it is a continuing story. In fact, if they were going to put ME2 on PS3, they almost would have to port the first one as well just so new players aren't jumping into a universe in which they know nothing about. There's just way too much politics and story in the game to play this sequel without hitting up the original.
Flower was awesome - it was a game that defied being a game. I can't wait to see what the devs have up their sleeves next.
I DLed both demos, and I have to say - this game has some of the worst current gen cutscene graphics that I have ever seen (worse than some PS3 or 360 launch titles even). That being said, the gameplay is surprisingly fun. It's a shame that the darned thing looks like a PS2 (yes, 2 as in two) port.
I remember when PS3-only fans belittled this game (presumably because it was only on 360).
Now, they can't wait.
Gotta love the double standards.
BTW - I own all 3 systems - I'm a gamer.
The real question is: will anyone even notice they can't log onto Home?
Well, nobody makes you buy a new game - the choice is always yours. But if you want simple economics (which the author of this article doesn't understand) here's some for you...
He praises and praises DLC - well, DLC is not a good value at all. In fact, it's a far worse value than buying an all-new game. Each DLC song for Rock Band or Guitar Hero(ignoring song packs, special deals and full albums) will run you $2.00. Guitar Hero: Metallica has 49 songs on it for $60 (say $65.00...
I like them both, but to say that Guitar Hero sucks just because it's not made by Harmonix anymore (which is what a lot of Harmonix fanboys do) is somehow both elitist and juvenile at the same time.
They both have their place - kinda like the 360 and the PS3. Both functionally do the same thing. It's just that one does some things better and the other does others better.
I've been waiting for Burn Zombie Burn for a long time. Still nothing. What the heck happened to "January 2009"?
I get what you're saying, as yes, I am playing it every night. But it's not like the aforementioned games where I would literally jump on as soon as I came home from work, stop for the bathroom or smokes or a bite to eat, and play until the wee hours and go to work tired the next day, only to spend all weekend playing. I get my time in and I enjoy it, but it's just not the obsession that I've experienced with other "games of the year" or contenders (going as far back as Zelda and Te...
I really like Killzone 2, but I don't think it will be game of the year honestly. I mean all things good and bad aside, I don't find myself NEEDING to play this game like I have other games. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy and play KZ2 almost every night, but it's not an obsession like MGS4 or Uncharted or Bioshock or Left 4 Dead or Mass Effect or Rock Band/Guitar Hero or any other number of games that I've played that were beyond "great" and were just something completely different tha...
I hope it's true - Shadow of the Collosus was one of my favorite PS2 games. I'd like to see where they go next. If any developer can make a truly original product that showcases the PS3, it's Team ICO.
If it's on the next Xbox, it's a foregone conclusion.
If it's on the 360, then probably not, as Halo has a certain art direction to it that wouldn't let it compete graphically to Killzone 2 on current generation hardware.
However, if you are talking multiplayer gameplay, features, and number of active players, Halo is and probably will be the King for a long time.
I loved FFVII, and I wouldn't consider it overrated in the least, but seriously - do we need a remake? It would be one thing to remake the 8-bit or 16-bit Final Fantasy games as the story telling was reduced to reading text and simple (compared to now) graphics.
But FFVII was on the PS1, boasted great graphics, full-motion CGI video, a compelling story, and some of the most memorable moments in RPG gaming.
A remake would be redundant, although redundant with better g...
There's definitely lag in the game, but I don't notice it as they are describing it. When I experience lag, it's more along the lines of client-side or server-side, not really anything having to do with the controller.
And before anyone thinks I'm putting the game down - I'm not. But anybody who has played with 32 people knows that when it gets crowded in a certain area, you can shoot people enough to kill them, die yourself, and then have the other player die (with you getting...
Just as long as we don't get a Team Ninja-developed Tecmo Bowl. I mean, throwing stars are one thing - throwing hail marys is another...
Visually stunning could be nice, but the Wii needs more games that aren't just plain bad.
Maybe his way of saying it isn't exactly the best, but he does have a point - Home isn't really my cup of tea either. This thing has been in beta for quite some time and it still doesn't have the really cool stuff (like trophy rooms and in-Home game launching) that made it look promising. I myself don't log onto Home - I'd rather be playing games.
You missed the point of this article. It's not about competition - it's about people who support a particluar console so much that logic and reason become non-existant in their ideas and arguments.
