Hacking does not equal piracy.
I hate piracy. It takes money out of the developers' hands who take the time to create gaming experiences for us and affect future development in doing so.
I love hacking. It proves beyond a doubt that the human spirit is alive and won't be held back by somebody saying "no" or "you shouldn't" or whatever.
And just so we are clear, hackers are not pirates in general. What they do is done simply because th...
He's saying the *unified* Achievement system because EVERY game released for the 360 must have Achievements built into the game, not just the "meaningful" ones. I believe that the minimum high end of Gamerscore benefit is 250G for Arcade/Indy games and 1000G for retail/full games.
It's different for PS3 because Trophies weren't even in games until firmware 2.40 in 2008. They became required for all releases on PS3 in 2009. But it couldn't be considered a unified syste...
"Cry me a river b*tch, Sony can do whatever the hell they want with THEIR product."
So... By your logic it would be perfectly fine for a car company to sell you a car, then tell you one day that if you don't bring it in to the dealership so that they can remove the radio, your warranty is void.
This doesn't affect my PS3 usage, but I don't like the precedent that it sets.
Bungie is pretty smart and does a lot of fan service. If enough people say they want this, they might actually put it in via Easter Egg or DLC or something...
I agree and disagree with your DLC should be free statement.
DLC should be free when the content is made in conjunction with the development of the original disc-based game. It ticks me off when publishers charge for stuff that is *ON-DISC* or for levels, costumes, and weapons and other stuff that should be unlockable in-game somehow. Examples include that Resident Evil 5 multiplayer fiasco and just about every game that charges a dollar or 80 MSP for a stupid hat or sports coa...
It's not a joke dude.
I don't think that this will hurt Sony and I know it won't hurt me because I don't use the functionality. However, I do feel bad for the people who LEGITIMATELY use the feature to do whatever the heck it is that they want to do with it (and no, I'm not talking about modders, hackers, or pirates either). And having to make a choice between using PSN and their other OS sucks for them.
Sounds like a classic case of the rotten apples spoiling th...
Yeah, the name is pretty awesome!
I've actually spent more time on this game than any single player game that I can think of in recent memory (about 26 hours, 39% complete). Right now, I'm focusing on 100%-ing all of the settlements. I have hit a snag on the oil platform that was in one of the missions. I seem to be 3 items/destructables short. I've 100%-ed 2 other platforms, but this one seems to be missing something (unless I'm just blind).
Achievements and Trophies are best when there is a variety of them for a particular game. For example, Just Cause 2 has plenty of Achievements/Trophies that are skill-based, story-based, exploratory based, and "grinding-based" or whatever. Guitar Hero 3 was pretty good in that aspect too, although subsequent releases have had consistently worsening Achievements/Trophies.
The key is that they have to be attached to a game that is good AND highly replayable that compels...
Online would be good, as long as it's not just some tacked-on deathmatch modes. But could you imagine CTF or some retrieval mode with planes and stuff? That sounds cool, especially if you get the fortified bases with SAMs and stuff like they have in the single player.
Co-op would DEFINITELY be welcome in almost any form though.
Edit: The "Lost" island (Hantu) was the bomb.
After seeing the Sandy Ravage Booster Justice videos, I'm going to have to say Metallica is way up there for fragging.
There is a place for all genres when it comes to playing games with your own soundtrack. For example, I had some rap going during my Infamous playthroughs, classical during driving games (try it - it's awesome for open road racing), and of course, metal for FPS.
They do share the psychological thriller genre, but Alan Wake goes the supernatural route where Heavy Rain is more humanistic. Other than that, I agree - they don't really have much in common at all.
I like and somewhat agree with your list, but you're kinda cheating with God of War Trilogy, no? :)
The ending in a weird way parallels Halo 3's, which is kinda fitting, since Master Chief and Kratos are sort of the mascots for their respective systems. Plus they're both Spartans! :)
On the megaton note, I would prefer that Microsoft's megatons be limited to showing off new IP's that have awesome promise/technical innovation or revealing revivals of old ones long dormant as opposed to former exclusives going multiplatform.
In other words, I would much rather see Killer Instinct 3, something (finally) from Firebird Studios, and the long-delayed Peter Jackson thing than something like FFXIV going multiplat - I have a PS3 for those games...
I wonder if G4 will carry both of them?
Actually, HR froze on me last night after the patch :( Right when I was investigating the Mad Jack garage. But after that, it went on without a hitch.
I'm just glad that it fixed the objects disappearing glitch - I can't tell you how many times I was supposed to be holding something and it simply wasn't there.
Either way, this is good.
While I totally disagree with Sterling's Heavy Rain review (I love the game), I also agree with his Deadly Premonition review. That game was fun as hell for all of the wrong reasons, but fun nonetheless. It was Showgirls/Troll 2 bad, which makes it good - especially to people who like seeing things go horribly wrong.
Back to topic though - I don't really know what to make of this. Yes, he could have not synched his trophies. Even more plausible was that he reviewed during the &...
The storytelling in HR is great, don't get me wrong - but it's the connection that you get with the characters that makes it work. They could've taken the same exact plot and went about the interactions and such completely differently and the game would have not had the impact that it does. Credit to Quantic Dream for realizing that plot isn't the only thing that drives a story...
I just started playing Heavy Rain yesterday. The graphics are awesome, but the thing that gets me the most is the immersion factor. From the convinving crowd sequences to realistic building design, it is tops.
BTW - I bring up realistic building design because has anyone ever noticed that most games have buildings that don't seem like something an architect would ever sign off on? Heavy Rain actually does, which I applaud wholeheartedly.
As to GOW - the graphics ...
SOCOM 2 is my favorite online game on all time. Maybe they could HD it up and put it on PSN or something. I would be all over it in a heartbeat.
