Fair enough.
@izunadono
I agree with some of what you say, but the major flaw in your assessment is that you defend Street Fighter for changing mechanics, story, and features, yet condemn Final Fantasy for the same things.
Also, by using similar logic to yours in regards to Final Fantasy as a brand rather than a franchise, then The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Battlefield, Bioshock, Grand Theft Auto, and countless other games are guilty as well.
Really it does...
I have little to no desire to play the Star Wars Kinect (or Kinect games in general), but the actual console looks amazing.
If the game looks good and plays well, does it matter?
How the hell does Halo belong before Street Fighter? There have only been 6 Halo games (plus 2 on the way) in the ten years since the franchise started, as opposed to the ~30 Street Fighter games.
So, given gaffyh's definition, THC CELL's comment makes no sense?
@TheFact003
Just....no.....
You can install any game on the 360 in its entirety (not just certain game files, which is a developer option) onto your hard drive. You put the disc in to verify ownership, then it runs straight off of the HDD.
"If you don't believe me, go to the store and try to buy a copy of Guitar Hero or Tony Hawk."
Ironic words, considering that EA ditched Harmonix after RB3 and The Beatles RB sold less than they wanted to. And Skate 1/2 didn't exactly set the world on fire either.
People like this need to pump the brakes and stay in their own lanes when it comes to discussing other companies.
So a game has to be hard to play in order to be good?
No. MW3 will outsell BF3 because the franchise a large and diverse install base that has come to know and love the style of play that is featured in COD games.
The AI in COD sucks. No real-life applications can be made from it.
I can't say that the original did as much as people would like to believe because not everyone who played it actually beat it and found out that it was a woman. Back in the day, when passwords and non-continuable games were the norm, I'd say that most games went unbeaten.
Metroid's ending is a double edged sword though, because the impact of the big reveal would have never existed if you knew from the get-go that Samus was a girl, but the empowerment to women only...
I totally disagree with Soderlund.
Shooters have been around for decades now and pretty much none of them have had truly realistic animations.
He only says this because BF3 has realistic animations. It's not like packs of wild gamers cared enough about animations to complain about them.
The problem with SOCOM 4 is that it isn't a SOCOM game. I spent plenty of time with the multiplayer (which should be ashamed to call itself SOCOM multiplayer), and it's just not good.
When SOCOM clans are moving back to Confrontation, that is saying something.
@Machioto
After my first Playstation turned a year old, I had to flip it upside down in order to play games. Every time.
I had to send my PS2 away twice to get it fixed.
I've had no problems whatsoever with my PS3 hardware.
Proof enough?
...because I can't wait to hear "I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!" in blistering 5.1 digital surround sound.
Quality assurance =/= fear of competition.
P.S. I guarantee you that Activision is not afraid of Battlefield 3.
@agentxk
Mouse and keyboard is superior (in terms of aiming) for shooters, but gamepads are WAY better for platformers, sports games, RPGs, and many other genres.
@Biggest
I understand where you're coming from, but also consider that the accepted price model is X dollars for the contents of a game disc, where X varies depending on when and where you buy the game, and whether or not it is new or used. However, the contents of the disc are not a variable. Everything needed to access multiplayer (save a LIVE subscription on Microsoft platforms) is on the disc. By adding "passes" and such, you are in effect doing the same thi...
I could see them remastering Halo 2 with the Halo 4 engine and releasing the final Halo 4 map pack on disc with the remaster. They've done similar things with ODST and the CE remaster.
