Hey look - it's people who haven't played a game discounting the opinion of those who have yet again!
Well, Bill Gates once (allegedly) said: "640K ought to be enough for anybody" in reference to RAM.
Whether or not he actually did, the point is we now approaching terabytes of RAM as a standard. Technology always increases, as does the ingenuity of pioneers to utilize it and make amazing things that were never even considered as possible.
Consoles will keep coming out as long as they remain economically viable for their manufacturers.
I remember trying to get through Metal Gear Solid 2 with 0 kills and 0 detections. An exercise in patience to be sure. I was never so bold to not allow myself saves though :)

To be honest, I don't think either side is "on edge" for this game, minus forum people. The Final Fantasy franchise is no longer the pinnacle of RPGs - and there is only more competition on the way.
Versus should have come out 2 years ago.
I'm excited for TLOU. I only hope that the entire game is as exciting and intelligent as the gameplay we've seen thus far. I have infinite confidence in Naughty Dog though - this game will be one of the defining titles of this generation if the small taste we've received is indicative of the entirety of the finished product
I have no problem with a new Gears trilogy or standalone after Judgment. However, I want it on next-gen consoles. Even though Halo 4 looks like a huge leap forward graphically for the series, I don't think that as substantial an upgrade would be possible for the Gears franchise on current-gen hardware.
@TCG
Are you honestly trying to say that a QTE is the same as controlling any other game? So COD, Uncharted, Tekken, Flight Simulator, and Pac-Man are all the same, control-wise, as Heavy Rain, Beyond, and Dragon's Lair?
There are exploration segments where you have control over character movement - that's given. But, as you said yourself, all of the fighting and interactions are handled through QTE's. You know - all of the traditional gameplay elements? A...
Here is my problem: Quantic Dream has near LIMITLESS potential as a developer to craft gaming experiences. However, this looks like another Heavy Rain in terms of control. I liked Heavy Rain a lot, but the fact is, it's mainly an on-rails QTE game. Yes, there are other things to do and such, but the majority of the gameplay is QTE-centric.
I want to see Quantic Dream take the rails off and put the QTE's away and make an experience that feels like the player is FULLY i...
The whole "Spike is owned by a Microsoft partner" argument is invalidated by the fact that Nintendo is ALSO having their E3 conference broadcast on Spike. The Wii is still the sales leader this gen, and Nintendo is about to release the first console of the next generation - something that will be extensively covered during the conference. If Microsoft were truly attempting to block out the competition, they would have much more to gain from blocking the Nintendo conference.

People forget that Hitman isn't a traditional stealth game - it's about misdirection, hiding in plain sight, and creative assassinations. Everything I've seen thus far screams Hitman.
Sometimes they run better on newer hardware. One of my favorite games on PSX, "One", had a lot less lag during the major explosions/hectic events on PS2 via BC.
If you have to buy the rights to it again or pay something for it, then it's not really backwards compatibility - it's paying additional money to play a game that you already own. Trust me - this won't be a free service. I absolutely refuse to pay more when I could just reattach my PS2 to my TV.
To be fair, the only people butthurt over Elite were Battlefield fanboys. Maybe butthurt is the wrong word, but I'm going off of your comment. But regardless, COD fans were never the ones complaining about Elite - it was COD haters.
Fact is that both Elite and Premium are optional ways to enhance your experience for either game. But it's not like you miss out if you don't subscribe. And nobody is holding a gun to gamers' heads making them do so.
Considering Shenmue's previous production costs, they'd only have to raise a quarter of a billion dollars :D
Halo, Gran Turismo, Uncharted, and Gears of War disagree.
I am very impressed by the Beta. Hopefully the full release is even better.
@PirateThom
Who in their right mind would NOT hope for a new God of War game announcement?!
That being said, I don't want it to be a Vita game. PS3 PLEASE!
I'm so happy that SOCOM 2 got recognized. I spent years playing that game and nothing else. I do agree with Halo 2 as number one though. It set the standard for multiplayer connectivity and options. Heck - we're at 8 years and a console generation later and a lot of games STILL don't or can't do what Halo 2 did multiplayer-wise.
I'm kinda torn on the idea of his brother or another protagonist being featured. On one hand, you open up new possibilities in terms of mythologies and story. However, you also get into the Halo predicament.
ODST and Reach were awesome campaigns. However, they still weren't Master Chief games. Its just not the same - even with the same gameplay and a familiar universe.
Whatever the case is, I absolutely cannot wait for a new God of War game.
@killerhog
If you bothered to read the article, this isn't a story-based game - it's an arcadey score attack/competition game.
Pac-Man and Tetris are two of the greatest games ever made and they have very short play through times (if you can make it to the end, that is).
