@Colwyn
The difference between the games that you mentioned and Twisted Metal is that they have evolved quite significantly over the years, for better or worse.
I spent about five hours with Twisted Metal last night. It's fun. It's chaotic. It's well done for what it does. But at the end of the day, it's basically the same game that it was in the PSX and PS2 days. Which isn't a bad thing, but it isn't a huge step forward to the franchise that t...
@Sevir
I have a 360 for Gears, Halo, Left 4 Dead, and multiplats.
I have a PS3 for Uncharted, MSG4, Twisted Metal, and other exclusives.
I have a Wii for...ummm...some reason.
No one console offers a complete gaming experience for me.
Whether you profit a billion dollars or a hundred or lose just as much, the fact remains that piracy is stealing. There's no special law that says it's only a crime if you steal from somebody who doesn't make that much.
Twisted Metal is boss! The demo made me fall in love with it all over again. Can't wait until Tuesday!
Gears was overrated? Really?
Oh, because YOU say so, it's true.
And I'm tired of the exclusive argument too. Sony has more, and yes they're of decent to high quality, but there are more multiplats every year than exclusives. In general, people buy and play them more. So honestly, exclusives only matter to people who own one console and fanboys (which are not the same thing).
If you can, buy both. I did, and I don't have to hat...
Are people really arguing about the difference between zombies and infected?
Here's a scenario:
It's the end of the world and you and your friend (let's call him Clay) are scavenging for supplies at a long-abandoned hardware store. As you exit the store with armfuls of lumber and household supplies, a group of fast-moving and somewhat humanoid creatures approach from the parking lot.
You: "OMG Clay run! Zombies!"
...
Killstreaks or GTFO
This would be awesome.
@PirateThom
I definitely agree on Revengeance not being canon, but you have to admit that there is animosity on the part of certain Sony faithful towards this and other games that were formerly exclusive franchises.
Either way, I hope that it's good.
@dark-hollow
The people that are mad about this are Sony fanboys for the most part. If this were a PS3 exclusive, the trailer would be heralded on N4G as a "bold new direction" or "an exciting spinoff".
Similar behavior was seen when FFXIII and GTAIV were announced as multiplats, and went from "OMG best game evers" to "meh".
People whine about COD milking, but at least Activision doesn't do online passes. Say what you will about DLC and Elite, but they're optional.
On topic, Jaffe understands that online passes kill lending to friends and renting as a trial to see if you want to buy. I've always appreciated that he wants people to play his games rather than getting caught up in sales numbers.
Good list, but Ethan Mars? Really?! What's he going to do - shave and call "Shaun" out until his opponent taps out?
I'd rather see Jayden with his cool VR glasses modded for attacks or something.
Good read and points. However, I strongly disagree with the idea that Search and Destroy is an individual showcase rather than a team effort. In fact, it's probably the most team-coordinated gametype in COD. An experienced S&D team is virtually unbeatable against randoms or teams that focus on other gametypes. The best teams have roles for every member and execute strategies and plays not unlike those you'd see in football in terms of their nuances.
@vortis
Nice try, but you can buy any Games on Demand or Arcade title without Live Gold. It's the multiplayer you can't use.
You have to log onto your console's Elite app after you've linked your gamertag. Make sure you let the first Elite page completely load, then you should have the emblem and callsign on your first pages in those sections in multiplayer. Also, you'll have two hours of double XP - there will be an XP logo if you hover over your name in lobbies to confirm this.
IMO the founder and Elite callsigns are kinda ugly though.
@-Alpha
I disagree on the IRNV. It's the last unlock you can get on a gun, meaning that you've played (and killed) quite a bit, presumably mastering that particular gun. Therefore, it's not a noob crutch - it's an enhancement for players who have legitimately earned it.
I can't wait until Saints Row: The Third gets on their radar LOL
This illustrates the hypocrisy of people who complain about Activision milking people with yearly releases. EA does it too - they just rename the games like people won't notice.
I'm so tired of the sales don't equal quality argument - it's an elitist perspective taken solely by those who support products that aren't widely popular.
If 20 people like something and 1 person doesn't, then that person is an anomaly. It doesn't mean that they are smarter or have better taste - it just means that their ideas conflict with the majority.
If 20 people DON'T like something and 1 person does, then that person is stil...
@antz1104
you literally picked the worst possible example. RE4 was a genre-defining game that had evolved in gameplay, graphics, mechanics, and scope.
Twisted Metal PS3 is a facelifted Twisted Metal PSX/2. Its still fun, enjoyable, and purchase-worthy. You just can't expect 10's across the board for a rehash
