I hate the kids singing and racist douche bags for sure, but I simply mute them (at least on XBOX games). However, voice chat is the industry standard at this point and should be in all games unless it's a design choice. I like push to talk with time limit better than open mic though, a la PS2-era SOCOM. It cuts down on chatter and spammers quite a bit and allows for clearer tactical discussion. Which brings me to another (SOCOM-inspired point).

Games these days NEED a vo...

The problem is that gaming "journalists" don't feel the need to follow standard protocol, which is verifying a source's info through another source. That's the way real news works. I don't see any reason why it should be any different in gaming.

If something isn't confirmed, it needs to be explicitly stated by the author that it is merely a rumor. However, in gaming, rumors are too often presented as fact.

That sounds kinda awesome. Throw a zombie Cole from inFamous in as a wild card and amazing will happen.

Roaster? Like Kenny Rogers' delicious chicken?

I would have liked to have seen Mirror's Edge and Little Big Planet 2 - ME for using a first person perspective in ways unheard of at the time and LBP2 for the sheer amount of user generated content and different gametypes that could be created.

@Nerdmaster
I agree with everything you said. My post wasn't so much about the goodness or badness of ME3's ending, it was a commentary on how much gaming and gamers have changed over the years. I mean, imagine if 30 years ago, gamers were in uproar at Nintendo for the Donkey Kong killscreen because the game basically dies (and yes I know that's a hard task).

I guess I never thought we'd be HERE in gaming, with the lawsuits and petitions and such.

I can't believe all of this hubbub about a game ending. When i first started playing games, you were LUCKY to get something more involved than "You've saved the princess. Game Over." Now we're talking lawsuits and refunds.

Sad, really.

The inclusion of Ghost Recon and exclusion of God of War is baffling.

SOCOM 2 with full online multiplayer.

That is all.

UT3 was absolutely nothing like Gears, other than the fact that they shared an engine.

Didn't you know? Only console-exclusive games are good. Multiplats spontaneously combust before you have a chance to put them into your system.

I hate to say this, but Kojima is wrong about his own game series :) So many better choices.

I prefer Psycho Mantis and The End.

I like how we as gamers (and fanboys) ignore certain facts that are in discord with our beliefs and comfort zone.

Fact: Steam is highly successful and digital distribution only
Fact: IOS and Android have made many people who aren't part of the core gamer group well aware of digital distribution
Fact: Netflix and cable companies (as well as our beloved consoles) have gotten gamers and non-gamers alike on board with TV and movie streaming
Fact: This...

UAVs, Counter UAVs, Recon Drones, and EMPs say hi, among others.

True, it took a while for Confrontation to work properly (or at least as properly as possible), but at least it felt like a SOCOM game for the most part.

SOCOM 4 tried to be like COD and MAG way too much and ended up being nowhere near as good as either of them, and certainly didn't feel like a SOCOM game.

An HD remake of SOCOM 2 is the only SOCOM game I'll ever buy from Zipper at this point.

They could definitely learn from the level of customization that was available in SR3. I think that the zaniness wouldn't carry over well, but the variety in missions and not taking itself serious mentality served it well

@brianunfried
Should we also grow up and buy a 300,000 dollar supercar to drive instead of playing Gran Turismo? Or maybe grow up and get a real M-16 and shoot real people instead of shooting people in COD? Or how about building a temporal vortex to transport to a Skyrim-like world instead of just popping it into our console?

Yeah - those suggestions are just as stupid.

They're a small studio and have never worked on consoles. The 360 is most similar to PC architecture, so they went with it because they didn't have the resources to go with multiple versions at the same time.

You can take my word for it, or just read this article where the developers say the same thing.:

I kinda agree, but in just about every other online game, you can be on your friends' team.

Matchmaking could use some tweaking. However, I usually just make a room and it fills up.

My main concern is ranked games. As far as I can tell, you can't guarantee that your friends (or even your party) will be on the same team. I understand that teams should be "even", but I like playing with my buddies. I also like unlocking things through play. These shouldn't be separate concepts.

Also, the voice chat doesn't seem to work properly, ...
