I think that Kratos' mood is a big part of the God of War series. From 1, where he is merely angry, to 3 where he is absolutely PISSED, his mood and outlook actually were quite in tune with what was going on on the screen. Things got even more furious as the series progressed, and the player felt that and their experience was shaped by that rage and quest for revenge.
I personally don't even want to imagine a chilled-out Kratos, because to me, he...
Possibly, if you speak on terms of video compression and disc swapping, but neither will be a problem next gen.
So just play the single player. Nobody in their right mind would say that God of War games don't offer their money's worth in terms of an epic single player experience.
When you're the champion, you don't just forfeit the belt and let up and comers have a tournament to see who wins it.
COD will be around until the sales go away.
@DragonKnight
What you're saying has nothing to do with preconceived notions or anything like that. What the repliers were asking was how does somebody else's experience with a game affect yours in any way whatsoever unless it's a multiplayer thing? Does the existence of a shortcut infuriate you even if you have no intention of taking it?
When I was a kid, nobody bitched about other gamers using The Konami Code.
@Sonic200
Why is it okay to trust the majority when it comes to God of War, but not Call of Duty?
I'm a huge GOW fan and can't wait for Ascension - I'm just asking a question.
I can't say that anything truly amazed me. Sure it was good, and there were some really cool ideas and promises of the future, but nothing left me with my jaw open and drool piling up on my lap.
If you overuse a word like "amazing", it loses its value and meaning.
I'm.....troubled at their focus on social media. Killzone looked great, but I'm not a huge fan of the franchise other than looks. Watch_Dogs looks even better than before (graphically and gameplay wise). The racing game sounds cool and looks slick - that kind of social media integration is something I'm cool with. Diablo III would have been a coup a couple of years ago, but now it's more of an added bonus than an essential pickup.
Overall, i wanted to see more...
@theBAWSE
What does any of that have to do with the PS3 launch, CGI vs retail in-game visuals, or pretty much anything that would be considered on-topic?
ON-TOPIC
Some of the footage shown was considered "target rendering", which is basically what they expect the final product to look like. Obviously some games meet the target, some games don't. I think that the problem is when target rendering is not presented as target, but as actual. ...
Even though it began as a mod, Counterstrike was and is still sold on PC. Millions of copies, both box and digital.
Counterstrike on the original XBOX was in the top ten most played games on LIVE until support was dropped.
How did it fail? Global Offensive? That doesn't really count, as it's technically a sequel.
Sony's problem isn't sales - it's market share. They went from far and away the best selling console last generation to (basically) a tie for second. That's quite a drop off, considering their past dominance.
The WiiU isn't selling at the extreme rate that the Wii did, but they will still have a considerable lead when Sony and Microsoft release their next consoles. Honestly though, I don't see any of the three pulling away significantly next gen eithe...
Honestly, when I'm trying to take down as many people as possible while attacking and/or defending an objective, I could care less what it looks like when an enemy dies.
Exactly, smashcrashbash. Journey is one of the best games in a long time and it was a PSN release. I don't know why people think.that a game has to come in a box to be great.
@BigStef
The reason that the title is "8 Upcoming Xbox 360 Games, That Aren’t Coming To PS3" is most likely the fact that if it were called "8 Upcoming Xbox 360 Exclusives", there would be an flood of people pointing out that some of them are on PC as well.
Which happened anyway.
"It's a great game, just a mediocre DMC game, IMO of course."
I don't understand this argument. 1 and 3 were awesome. 4 was okay, and 2 was absolute crap. Mediocre would only be a relative word if the games were constantly of a high level, which most people who have played them all would certainly say that they were not.
You do realize that a good number of game critics are gamers too, right? Just because they are given a forum to give their opinion does not mean that they are any less of a gamer than the rest of us.
Also, the purpose of review is to give an opinion as to the quality and enjoyment of a product. This is not exclusive to the video game industry, as you may well be aware. Reviews do influence people. Reviews are SUPPOSED to influence people. A writer who is voicing their opinion...
"Enjoy your three hit SSSensational combos."
This mentality is what is wrong with people. It's not that you can't do varied combos that are difficult to pull off - it's the fact that other "less-skilled" players can get similar scores using easier or more repetitive methods.
Letting somebody else's adeptness with a game get in the way of your own personal enjoyment is both asinine and elitism at it's worst. If you don...
@InMyOpinion
To you, you're family.
To Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, we're numbers.
Wow Fez - way to blow that out of proportion.
But stealing a penny chew is the same as stealing a video game is the same as stealing a diamond ring (although laws exist where value determines the severity of the crime). It's all stealing.
And jaywalking is a crime because it puts the lives of drivers and pedestrians in danger. Oh sure - it's no big deal when there's no traffic, but some people grossly underestimate their ability to cross the stre...
Where's MGS4 on that list???
