@DragonKnight
You disregard his entire comment because of his claim that 360 is the go-to console for the hardcore gamer?
First, and this is just plain logic, just because you disagree with one part of somebody's argument does not mean that the entirety of that argument is negated.
Second, do you know what a hardcore gamer is? It's somebody who dedicates significant time and money to their hobby of gaming. It has ABSOLUTELY nothing to...
@Monkeysmoke
To be honest, the games you mentioned were not awesome because of The Cell - they were the products of excellent first-party developers with great vision and art direction. I'm fairly confident that Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, and Guerilla could have produced just as impressive titles on the 360 because of their talent. Graphics are STILL getting better on each console. The technology hasn't changed - the ingenuity and skill of the developers has.
One of the problems may be the dedicated servers issue and reworking the netcode for the PS3 platform. A lot of people say that MAG's could be used, but they are two very different animals. Half of SOCOM's awesomeness was the lobby system. Clans and players were extremely territorial back in the day and it added to the allure of the game with the meta aspects of gamer mentalities.
@JBSleek
I think that the commercial success of Counterstrike: GO has proven that gamers are more than willing to revisit classic shooter gameplay. There STILL is nothing like SOCOM 1/2 out there.
@People saying Nintendo doesn't allow games they publish on other consoles:
The Banjo Kazooie series is on XBLA.
EDIT:
Nevermind Rare published those. I r an idiot
@Carl_Shocker
I don't "support" or "not support" developers - I buy games that I think that I will enjoy. I use my money to entertain myself and provide experiences that serve me - not to line the pockets of publishers or pat developers on the back. Having loyalty or animosity towards a particular company or intellectual property is silly if it means compromising the reasons we play games in the first place.
If a game is really good, does it matter if it's a "Resident Evil game" or not? I mean, I understand that this is a departure for the series, at least in part, but aren't good games still good games?
If something is enjoyable, it doesn't matter what title is on the box it came in.
EDIT:
@CrimsonWing
You get it. Well said.
Stubbs the Zombie was pretty darned fun.
How the hell is The Last Guardian above The Last of Us, considering TLG hasn't seen any new footage in years, whereas TLOU is all over the place?
Edit:
Also TLG doesn't even have a release window yet.
@cgoodno
Nobody is going to write a couple of paragraphs because there isn't enough "wrong" with the game to justify that much text. And if they did, it would just be more of the "Dante looks emo" junk.
People need to let it go.
Less than "stellr" Bayonetta? It may not have been original, but it's one of the best hack and slash games ever made.
@Dante112
That's no different than FFXIII being the end-all be-all of RPG's in many Sony loyalists' eyes and shouts. Then, almost literally the second the game was announced as multiplatform, all of those same people claimed to have never been excited about it anyway and that they were really waiting for Versus.
Both groups are sad, sad people.
I love how "fans" incessantly whine about Call of Duty never radically departing from its tried and true formula, but when DMC tries something different, yet similar, the tears fall like rain.
Gamers can be the biggest bunch of little b#tches.
They've only developed two major releases, both of which were great (SOTC could even be in the conversation of best games ever made). But that is hardly enough of a body of work to automatically consider anything they touch to turn into gold. I look forward to it, but I expect nothing so as not to be disappointed.
By using the same logic...
-three months after you buy an album, the artists should send you new songs for free
-after you buy a suit, you should be able to get a new tie to go with it after you get tired of the old one
-after you see a movie, you should get a complimentary epilogue mailed to you
-after you eat dinner at a restaurant, dessert comes at no extra charge
The DLC entitlement mindset is bull. In no other m...
Regardless of when the games were released, they're two completely different games. 1 is a 3D arena fighter and the other is a 2D platform fighter. That's like calling Top Spin a rip off of Pong because you're volleying something that looks like a ball.
I don't see any problem with Final Fantasy, past or present. I really enjoyed XIII - especially the combat. Plus there's undoubtedly a XIII-3 to finish the trilogy and Versus XIII (although that could honestly be a standalone game at this point), and some good things to come next generation with the Luminous project.
True, there are ups and downs in the series, but there are so many games with a FF moniker that it's bound to be that way. However if you look at the...
@Everyone
So if reviews don't matter, sales don't matter, and people saying how much they love a game doesn't matter, then what matters?
Gaming hipsters are just as bad as real hipsters.
I love the God of War soundtracks - recurring themes, but never really repeating the same pieces over and over.
I disagree with LightofDarkness. The point of a legal punishment is not to get back an equal or slightly greater value from said punishment - it is to deter people from committing the crime in the first place.
Example - if the punishment for stealing a $60 game was $80, then the risk is not that great. You weigh free vs an extra $20, decide that there is more benefit to take a chance than dealing with negative reactions, and steal the game. But But if the punishment was $50,0...
