@Kratos_Kills
And your constant attacking of anything Xbox One-related isn't annoying?
@FrigidDARKNESS
No, that would be too sensible. Besides - everyone knows that the average N4G user knows more about system architecture and game design than actual developers. I mean, Avalanche was randomly writing code and drawing pictures one day and somehow got lucky that it ended up being a game. Obviously.
Oh grow up. It's a COMEDY VIDEO. And a very funny one at that. Why ruin it with your dribble?
@jimbobwahey
"I feel really sorry for the people who buy the Xbox One and find out about the used games block, online requirements and everything else after they've handed over cash."
Well, that's becoming less of a potential problem, as you and others have seemingly made it their goal in life to vomit your thoughts on the matter in as many Xbox One threads as humanly possible.
Hopefully. Everyone deserves to try it.
Maybe as a puzzle game of the year, but there are way too many contenders, both released and upcoming, to consider a game with the depth of PVZ2 as being the overall GOTY.
MGS3 definitely did it right, but it kind of defied being a prequel in a way by being part 3 in the chronology. A technicality to be sure, but a point nonetheless.
Depth of story is definitely important. The problem is sometimes they don't go far back enough.
Perfect example is Gears of War: Judgment. Don't get me wrong - I have been having an absolute blast with the multiplayer, despite its huge difference from past games (I know I'm in the minority on that, but whatevs). But my biggest problem with it was that it didn't delve deep enough into the backstory in terms of time.
They could have actually gon...
@Grap
Agreed on their publishing skills lately - Just Cause 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum were two of the most pleasant surprises for me this generation.
That's what I was thinking! Maybe with a little Condemned mixed in. My interest is piqued!
I'd have to say that Uncharted 2, MGS4, and God of War III are my top three in order. I have other favorites for a top 8 or 10, but there is a drop-off in the sheer level of awesomeness and enjoyment that I experienced from those three games to a number 4. Those games defined this generation of Playstation for me. I hope that The Last of Us finds its way up there when I play it!
I understand that it is a new IP, but I think that it will sell really well. A lot of factors are playing out well for it...
1. The announcement was made at the right time - this wasn't one of those games announced three or four years before release. There was just enough time to build up a great level of hype amongst gamers, particularly the Naughty Dog faithful, while still not making it too short as if to make it seem rushed.
2. Sony is marketing it we...
@cleft5
Let me preface this by saying SotC and Ico are amazing games - SotC is one of my favorites of all time.
However, they just don't sell really well. SotC came out in 2005, when there were already a ton if PS2s out there and has done about 1.2 million lifetime sales. That's not really system seller material.
HOWEVER, if TLG is a launch title, there is the possibility that a greater percentage of early adopters will play it as there simp...
Sorry, but Condemned, PGR3, and Kameo (to name a few launch titles) looked way better than original Xbox games.
That is quite the company to keep. Congrats to Naughty Dog for making this and to us for getting to play it in a week!!!
@SpinalRemains
Microsoft hasn't announced anything concerning changes to their Live subscription model, so maybe we should wait until they do before we make assumptions/accusations. Sound good?
That said, I've happily paid for Live since 2004. Yes I know that that is $450 retail (I've actually paid less via promotions, but I figured I'd keep the number round). Yes I'm fine with it. Many people are.
When I turn on my Xbox and PS3, I am automatically logged into Xbox Live and PSN respectively. I have never even turned my MacBook off, but when I wake it up, it's connected to the internet automatically. My phone downloads emails in standby and has an active internet connection at all times. It's is the same story for a lot of people. This whole notion of "ZOMG ALWAYS ON AND CHECK INS SUCK!" is asinine to me when I'm always on anyway.
Also, I've not...
Gears and MGS4 DEFINED this generation for their respective consoles. The others are arguable, but the list fails on those two selections alone.
@broli4000
A lot of gamers don't understand that games are software. They think that you're actually buying the disc, when in fact, you are buying the software and (perhaps most importantly) the license to use it. If they read the EULA that comes with games, they would see this.
Unfortunately, this is a case of willful ignorance and an adversity to change. We have had it good for a long time in terms of distributing and reselling games in a manner th...
You do realize that the console runs in several different power states, and that one of the minimal power states can do the DRM check without you being home or the console even appearing to be on, right?
Some people act as if they have to stand in front of the Kinect and do a retinal scan and visual prostate exam to confirm their identity every 24 hours. I only hope that their ignorance is willful and not a symptom of sheer stupidity.
