@Hicken
"You Xbox guys are super quick to defend and deflect, but you have no grasp on why people wouldn't share your enthusiasm. And you seem to have no interest in understanding."
Same could be said of Playstation guys who are quick to attack and insult when they have no interest in understanding that some people like the Xbox brand a lot.
And yes, I know that some of those people have legitimate concerns about some of Xbox On...
@DragonKnight
You missed the point. He said he would never play a console that features DRM. I argued that he already does because of the digital distribution methods available on each platform. The fact that you bring up disc-based games in your snarky comment only shows your ignorance.
Now if you'd like to logically address my original comment on digital distribution, then I'm all all ears.
@Williamson
"As long as the exclusive games don't have the stupid DRM then I don't see a problem."
That's the wrong attitude. Either DRM is bad or it isn't. Exclusivity of a title should have nothing to do with the issue if it is one of principle, which nearly the entire anti-DRM crowd claims that their argument is.
If you play an Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, or PC, then unfortunately you're already playing consoles with DRM on them.
Don't believe me? Try to sell an XBLA, WiiWare, PSN, or Steam download to Gamestop. I'll wait.
Edit: also try to take them over a friend's house to "borrow" without migrating account information as well. Again, I'll wait.
To be fair, Mattrick didn't say that. He's a pretty classy guy in general, with the possible exception of that "backwards compatible" thing, which was kinda blown out of proportion.
@Septic
You forgot his/her incessant usage of the word "Draconian".
I've been saying this all along. If EA and/or other major publishers go One-exclusive because of the DRM, the gaming landscape will change forever. Sony has always had great exclusives, but if the masses cannot get Madden, FIFA, Battlefield, and other franchises with regular installments that sell big on a Sony console, they will buy a Microsoft console instead, regardless of how good the PS4 exclusives are.
This scenario is as bad for gamers as it is for Sony. There are ...

"But I have a feeling that by "gameplay" you actually mean painting your cars and rims and then selling them. Sooo much gameplay! /s"
If you're referring to Forza, I've never bought any in the series. I do own GT 1-5 though. My point was that Dragon was rattling off a list of intangibles as opposed to things that actually affect the gameplay experience.
And no, just because it's called GT doesn...
DragonKnight failed to mention anything about gameplay or courses in his tirade. Aren't those why you play a driving game? I could care less about licenses or perceived respect in the automotive industry.
I kinda disagree about people not buying iPhones for their games and apps. Those were the major selling points of an iPhone in the first place. There are plenty of devices that handle phone calls, but Apple took the phone, marketed it as a multimedia device, and has been swimming in money ever since.
They wouldn't lose customers under this model - they would just have customers buying a different console to play their games.
Example:
Assume 50 million Xbox gamers and 50 million PS gamers buy a total of 30 million EA Games. Then EA drops support for next Gen PS model. People who are fans of EA products (there are many many people in this category) decide to buy an Xbox One instead of a PS4. Then you have 80 million Xbox One owners and 20 million PS4 owners buy...
If the major developers such as EA, Activision, 2K, and Ubisoft are seriously pushing for DRM on consoles, there is a chance that they are telling Sony that they will not make games for the PS4 anymore if they do not add some form of DRM or used game resale system.
If Sony declines to do so, forget exclusive DLC - we're talking 90% of the major franchises exclusive to Xbox One. Call of Duty, Battlefield, Madden, Assassins Creed, FIFA, GTA Bioshock etc. Believe me - Micros...
If you're doing any of those things, maybe you should leave the Xbox home and simply enjoy them as they were meant to be experienced i.e. without you playing video games.
I'm buying it regardless, but it would be nice if companies actually waited until after a game is released to announce DLC for it - especially single player content.
Still - Naughty Dog does not disappoint and I think that this is one of those "anything more is even better" situations. Can't wait to get my hands on it soon!
It doesn't matter what *I* choose to do with my PS3. I never used OtherOS. I never planned to use OtherOS. I use my PS3 for games, Blu rays, and Netflix. However, I had the RIGHT TO CHOOSE to use it if I so desired. And there were people, less than 1% of owners or not, who did use it. The advertisement and popularity of a feature is inconsequential.
Where Sony went wrong was their method of stopping it. Basically, in order to play games made after a certain date, they ha...
You have to appreciate the irony that most of the people championing "consumer rights" had no problem with Sony removing OtherOS.
So.... 1 > 4?
"Lost the console war already" is a pretty harsh thing to say. Unfortunately for the author, he has neither solid reasoning nor arguments to prove his hypothesis. Let's go in order...
10. The Name - Really? You want us to take you seriously when you lead off with this?
9. PS4 Is More Powerful - On paper, yes. However, the original Xbox was more powerful and was heavily outsold. Same with the Genesis and Gamecube and Dreamcast. Power doesn't ...
@joecanada
When you buy a game, the disc isn't what you're buying - you're buying the game itself. The disc is merely the delivery method. Ever buy a game off of PSN or Xbox LIVE? You can't exactly sell that version, can you? And in many cases, you're paying full retail.
Left 4 Dead was one of the best co-op experiences I've ever played. And versus was a joy as well. Obviously the PC version had the edge with mods and free DLC, but the base game never got old just because of how different it was every time I played it.
It really should be on all platforms though because games of that quality that are not first party exclusives deserve to be played by as many people as possible.
