The 24 hour check wasn't for Kinect - it was for DRM.
Have you checked your Facebook or Twitter feeds? Mine are breaking out with people celebrating and saying they're buying a One now.
I really liked the family group plan and being able to play any of my games on any console. The DRM and checkins were never a concern for me.
I guess it's better for the masses, but it had better not mess up the cloud initiative. Otherwise, we basically have two of the same console this generation. I wanted different experiences for my money. I'm still getting that by buying both and playing the exclusives that each offer, but still - they're clones at this point...
The Family Group as we know it is most likely dead. I hope the cloud initiative is not. Perhaps they can sell"internet required" games?
Also, you have to appreciate the irony. A large portion of the vocal opposition were Sony fanboys. They helped this happen and now will have to deal with the One selling more than it would have. They never assumed Microsoft would pull a 180 and will now have to return to whining about Kinect and teraflops again. Careful what you wis...
@PFFT
Do you get off on depriving somebody of something they want in order to push your childish agenda?
I wish Amazon charged people like you something for wasting people's time.
It just means there was less Ones available for preorder at Gamestop than PS4's. Take it at face value instead of trying to read into it.

Please provide a link to the specific part of the Unired States (or any other country for that matter) Constitution that guarantees the right to privacy.
I'll save you the legwork - there is none. But there is something called common sense. Common sense isn't in the Constitution, but it is way better to live your life by instead of justifying behavior through law.
Common sense would tell you that if you are truly afraid of yo...
I love seeing fanboys come in to (predictably) point out the undecided and negative parts of every article.
I also love how technological advances are either bad or impotent depending on the brand. Don't any of you understand that this is potentially awesome for the future? It doesn't matter if it's Microsoft or Sony - cloud computing can be done for any console. The reason Microsoft is pushing it is because of how massive their cloud actually is.

Yes and loving it! My favorite tactical game since SOCOM 2.
My tip is make sugar bombs instead of the explosive bombs. They are extremely handy for a kill or a getaway.
Did you just call Lost Odyssey "bare stuff"? Please please please tell me you mean "barring stuff".
The DRM isn't going away as long as the console is install-only. Otherwise, you could install unlimited copies on unlimited consoles.
They could relax them though. Maybe weekly check-ins?
You are correct. Downloadable Xbox One games AND DLC fall under the Family Share and transfer umbrellas.
I don't know why Microsoft isn't trumpeting the awesomeness of that stuff instead of cloud computing, which is cool but doesn't appeal to the masses as much.
I'm getting a One and PS4. The WiiU isn't for me and I can't keep up with PC gaming.
I've been multi-console (same generation) since Genesis and Super NES. If you have the funds to keep up with it, it's rewarding because you don't miss out on games exclusive to one or the other.
Suda's games aren't for everyone, but by god, you can't say he doesn't have one of the most unique minds for game design. Can't wait!

"just don't point fingers at us for disagreeing with their design and expressing our discontent with it."
If you don't plan on buying it, why continually express your discontent with it? Because seriously, that's what N4G is right now - a bunch of people who have no intent (and never had any intent) of buying an Xbox One, yet "express their discontent" about it in every single thread that pertains to it.
I admire that Sony saw an opening and dove through it headfirst. I am not part of the group who thinks that Sony is some sort of champion of consumer rights. They made this decision and the big deal of it that they did simply because of Microsoft and their policies.
When I opened up my copy of The Last of Us, I found (as everyone else who opened their copies found) an online pass. Surely a champion of consumer rights such as Sony wouldn't dare put online passes on their ...
@kB0
"Can Halo really solve everyone of their problems?"
In a way, yes. At the end of the day, gamers buy consoles for games. There is no game called "Consumer Rights". The hottest release of 2014 won't be "More Teraflops 2: Teraflop Harder". There is a Halo though. There is inFamous. There is Titanfall and Killzone, and Knack, and Spark. Gamers who are looking for the experiences that will please them the most will gravitate...

I'd compare Gears 3 to Uncharted 3 graphically. They both look amazing and their art styles are well done. I'm not saying one is better than the other, and this has nothing to do with gameplay, but they are as impressive as each other in the visuals department.
You forgot Kojima. Even he said they were on par.
The thing is, launch titles don't use most of a console's "power", or at least in terms of efficiency. Hell - Killzone allegedly only uses 3GB of RAM and it looks amazing. We won't see what true capabilities each have until much later in the lifecycle anyway.
Hopefully the digital versions are usable everywhere and sharable, at least in the future. Those were legitimately awesome features.
