I liked and agree with the first half of your comment.......what happend after that? What went wrong? Any clue to what I am getting at?
I think what really needs to be considered more is the gameplay. The decision of what lighting techniques, or any graphical technique for that matter, should be used depends on how that technique effects the play of the game.
Does the technique add depth, immersiveness visual appeal or does it just (using lighting as an example) seem too dark so that enemies can't be seen, the full scale of the level can't be appreciated etc. ?
These are creative decisions that h...
I am a final fantasy fan so of interst to me would be FF XII RW and FF IV. So the release in Europe for FF XII RW is Q1, nothing new there! And FFIV isn't even mentioned! It is coming out in Europe.....isn't it?
Call me skeptical but maybe I am just a "have to see it to beleive it" kind of person. I mean I saw the E3 vidoes (I haven't see the german Leipzig ones) but some of these screens look better than that video (although I did think the video looked good). I especially liked the minimal HUD idea, it just seems more.....realistic that way.
I agree with kotaku that some of the screens do almost look too smooth. But they would be foolish to put out media that doesn't represent the game, they got burnt too hard last time to do that.
So my conclusion is that it HAS to look as good as this......doesn't it?
It makes sound that all girls in general are getting better at gaming but lets be fair (I don't want to sound sexist because I'm not) most girls are rubbish at gaming. This is not to say that they don't have the potential to be as good or even better than guys but the majority of them aren't.
The article discusses a few girls that have taken the time to become good at games but then generalises that girl gamers across the board are getting better. Which from my personal point o...
That shops like gamestation would provide good competition for GAME; driving costs down etc. etc. This merger pretty much see's the end of high street game buying (well for anyone in the know).
I also think GAME's bundle deals on consoles is rubbish. They only ever seem to include games they are trying to shift rather than the games they know people will buy. That way the get rid of the games they want to move and people will buy the the actual games they want anyway. It's a d...
I actually started gaming with a (new) Spectrum 48k (earlier version). Yeah, work out how old I am now.......
I think you have just missed my point completely. I have fond memories of these classics but my question was (and here is the emphasis) using todays standards for gaming, why aren't these games classed as out dated and poor rather than being put into the cool "old skool" category?
I liked the new Super Mario Bros it was just like the earlier v...
How much do you push the kid to do what you want and risk them becoming just plain rebellious and how much do you grant them leniency to keep them in favour?
The balance is easier said than done, especially when the kid next door's parents disagree and shows an attitude which agrees with what the kid wants.
Ok, I have a gripe.
I know the DS is popular, I know it isn't even meant to be marketed as any sort of hand held power house and I know everyone has fond memories of games they used to play in their youth.
But where is the boundary between a game which has rubbish graphics, non existent story and repetitive play (by todays standards) and a game which is "old skool"?
It is like they are reviewing it on a completely different scale(in fact ...
This game is a summation of what the PS3 is about.
- Creative thinking
- User created content
AND......
- Sharing your creations with others!
this is also what encourages the UT3 mod community and one of the reasons why UT3 is on the PS3 before the 360.
Can't wait!
asside from my little bit of research in the other CC story, I haven't found much.
One thing is for sure, it will be out in the NA region at least 2 or 3 months before the UK and Europe due to localistation.
Maybe it is worth importing it from there?
That was a reasonably rubbish article. No new information and the information they did give was meager (admittedly not really their fault as squenix has divulged fairly little about the game).
I am not sure about this online feature. I hope that it in no way detracts or hampers developement of the single player version. I always like the single and multiplayer FF to be separate. For genre's like FPS's, online is a fairly natural element to add as the game play lends itself to i...
a title that bolsters the PSP porfolio.....I was running out of exciting games to play on my PSP but this definately looks like a must have.
I also second preditors question above, when is it out in the uk? I looked around and saw the 25 January 2008 as a possible date (gameplay.co.uk). But most places don't seem to have it even available for pre order.
Maybe they are just disagreeing with a smiley face cuz it's funny.
Even I had the urge to click on the disagree for the sheer, throw caution to the wind, fun of it! :p
I mean, how can someone disagree with nothing? Still, I think you should use your bubbles as you see fit as you have earnt them. Whether that be a "deep" and meaningful or just a smiley.......
The PSP is the more adult system (and the one I use for portable gaming) but let's be fair, it also has a reasonably poor library of games. Most of them are lacklustre ports and the genuinely good games are just so few.
I guess in summary I am just hard to please in the portable gaming world. If the DS wouldn't be just quite as kiddy oriented as it is, I might actually get one but you give a good few examples none the less....
I agree with the guys overall point about silent protagonists. If the person was that important in the story then they would have a lot to say about the events happening around them. So when the character doesn't say a thing the realistic immersion breaks. His Hollywood example was rubbish though. The silent protagonist doesn't work in hollywood because you never assume control of the person you would be playing so the immersion is broken there and then.
But in reality I like t...
I do a lot of travelling, so portable gaming is of interest to me so can someone tell me why I have absolutely no inclination to buy a DS?
I just can't seem to see any games that I wan't to play (maybe FFIII). I think the reason is that I would like a portable console with games big enough to keep my interest for a while. All the DS games seem to me that they are just pick up for 10 mins to play and put down again games.
I guess that is the market the DS is cater...
I quite like the semi-surreal concept of reviewing review magazines.
Funny!
Your comment says it all really. What is the point in devs just showing things to the media? Do they really think the media will tell everyone accurately what they saw? Not likely. So then, like you said, what is really the point? I can't think of a single good reason.
They should give their bill payers some more lovin'!!
Good comment, bubble for you!!
