@Belasco

BrutallyHonest's original post ended with "They are about making money and only money.", then I retorted by telling him that's what capitalism is all about.

My point (although I thought it was blatantly obvious) is only to state that ALL big businesses that operate within the realm of capitalism are all about making money, not just Microsoft.

To address what you edited in (since I can't edit mine): Everything else you added is allowed in the realm of the capitalist system and is being 'abused' by almost every single other gaming publisher out there. The likes of Sony, EA, Activision, etc. aren't shy in inventing new streams of revenue.

It has been deemed worth the price by millions of consumers, and has features you can'...

Capitalism is essentially only about making money.

Edit: Disagree? Feel free to explain what else capitalism is about while you're at it.

"...because it will not do good on XBL alone."

We don't even know what Microsoft projects American Nightmare to make. How can any of us be able to define 'good sales' at this time?

Replace "micro$oft" (how cute) with every single publisher on the market. Unless you're going to tell me that microsoft had something to do with Enslaved, Alpha Protocol, etc. not receiving sequels yet (atm). You and I still don't have full understanding of this AW XBLA situation in regards to budget, marketing, etc. so your statement is just ignorant.

That's my point.

"Unless PC conveniently doesn't count as a different platform this time."

This time? The term "console exclusive" is a recognizable word that's considered as a true term. The situation works for DC Universe Online just like it would in Alan Wake's case (if this turns out to be true).

If you're trying to make that slight because of the number of 360/PC games, shouldn't we also be asking that when the term "cons...

@SilentNegotiator

1.) I love how you're saying AW essentially being 'more linear' can now be used as an excuse.

2.) Pixel counting didn't stop MGSIV from beating out Crysis: Warhead for best graphics on some sites. Stop hiding behind numbers to say games look/don't look good. If that were the case, 10 PC Games look better than Uncharted 3. Think I'm crazy? Well...those PC games can go up to 1080p at 60 fps.

I'm guesssing that you think Naughty Dog should've won. Total guess, I know.

It's not whether or not the bugs & glitches are fact, it's whether the player/critic experienced them. While we can all see youtube videos on balancing issues, bugs, etc. from games, it should be of no effect to the user's experience if he/she didn't notice them. I've heard many critics/users state they've seen other parties experiencing game-breaking bugs while their experience has been relatively smooth.

It's the same thing you hear in co...

"After re-reading my title, I really need to work on the title after I write the subject."

I didn't necessarily mean to say problem was the wrong word when I put it in quotation marks. I meant to point out that it can be a double-edged sword when looking in hindsight.

Great blog btw.

You're going to need thick skin when it comes to writing reviews on here. If the score is disagreeable (to a certain degree), credibility will be the first thing certain groups will go after-which rings true just beyond game reviews. At the same time, giving a disagreeable score is at it's most rewarding when you have level-headed posters correct you on certain aspects like grammar or wish to "inspect your head" a little bit closer to see why you liked/disliked a certain p...

"At most I'd give it a 6 in the gameplay category without mods..."

Okay, I'm perfectly fine with that being YOUR gameplay score; however, we're talking about a Gametrailers reviewer who may have enjoyed the overall gameplay (combat, crafting, etc.) more than the average user.

It's fair to mention, but not affect the overall score. When looking at their Presentation score (8.0), it doesn't seem that mods influenced the final grade.

I expect a neon-light call back to the 80's like Drive, but that's just me.

Although I'm not entirely sure if there's some odd transition between the XBLA and PSN versions, it's essentially a demanding strafing shooter that can be easily tackled once you're in that old-school mindframe. While there's no health packs laying around on hard, the game (again on XBLA) was consistent on saving whenever a progressed with at least 75% health.

"Has Uncharted 3 made the cut because it's a PS3 exclusive?"

So now we're swinging for PS3 favoritism? It's time for all parties to agree upon the idea that everyone has their own biases for what makes a game great in their eyes. The interpretation for "GOTY-worthy" is totally subjective to that person. Just like review scores, it's really their own opinion at the end of the day.

"Just as deserving [of GOTY] as ...

That's entirely subjective though. It's the same as someone finding arcade-priced games to be GOTY material.
