I have to wonder if that's a double edged sword.
It's their cockiness with the ps1 that made them choose anti developer architectures with ps2 and more critcially with the ps3.
ps4 will be an excellent system, but if sony really does dominate ps5 could be a different story. any company with that kind of success will abuse it, see microsoft with xbone and sony with ps3.
Yes to the new consoles but EA doesn't care about power, they released tons of crap on the very weak wii. And no it did not sell as it was months late. still, very silly how they prematurely said they were on fully supporting wii u and then pretty much dropped it in a few months
Lol i remember when they came up on stage and said they had an "unprescedented partnership" with nintendo or some BS back in e3 2012.
It's funny how a lot of these big companies ditching the wii u are the same that piled shovelware on to the wii back when it was hot.
for me buying no console is worth it day 1. i didn't buy a wii u until last august.
i wont be picking up a ps4 until the end of 2014, as the wii u has enough coming to keep me occupied by then and by 2014 any inevitable problems with the console launch will be fixed and more games will be out.

however i put a fine line between what my favorite games are and what the best games are. for the best i would say TLOU, Red Dead, and Xenoblade.
Wow! you need to play galaxy. it still has a wow factor after all these years and still looks fantastic. especially if you have a wii u or dolphin emulator and it's upscaled to 1080p.

Why else would nintendo buy a mediocre selling game? They needed 3rd party stuff, but they knew they needed unique 3rd party stuff, and bayonetta is a very niche game with a dedicated fanbase willing to follow the sequel on to wii u. You honestly thought they bought this game because it would be financially successful? I look at iwata from the perspective of a GAMER not a shareholder. And as a gamer i think he needs to be replaced soon. He is on the right track buying bayonetta 2, SMT x FE, that 3 game deal with sega, but he needs to buy more exclusives like in the gamecube era.
That and he is not doing a good job advertising the system or explaining it. It is genuinely difficult to see where iwata's priorities lay because he is performing poorly...
I doubt they were doing nothing, they just underestimated development. Were now seeing all the 1st party stuff coming.
Nintendo could use new leadership, but i do think the wii u is an excellent console and iwata should maintain a lesser role, seeing the money he's raked in during his reign.
I have no doubt the system will redeem itself in termd of games, hell it'll do it by the end of 2014 easy. Its a matter of whether or not it'll br successful that 's still questionable.

I think the original xbox is so underrated! Everyone forgets about it, it had a ton of great games from sega especially. Panzer dragoon orta, jet grind radio 2, crazy taxi 3, to name a few.

The PS2 came out in 2000 and was probably in development before microsoft even announced a console. The xbox specs themselves weren't finalized nor revealed anytime before the ps2 launch. If you're going to state something so definite make sure it's actually true.
