Well the problem with knack and shadowfall is at their core they arent very interesting games. Dead rising is a really zany, goofy game with unique gameplay. Knack is unique but it doesnt have much depth.
And fps can only break a game when it hinders the game... no one seems to think it does.
I think the biggest factor here is the fact that they even HAD that many consoles at launch, thats probably the first instance of a console having 1 million consoles available so soon. I knew people with pre ordered ps3's that took forever to get, even worse with the wii.
I hope for MS's sake they meet demand for consoles.
@wonderful
still, this is a dense jrpg we're talking about. tons to translate and tons of voice acting. could come out the same year in america, we'll see.
wow, that's pretty pessimistic. for all we know other studios are helping with X. they know X is a key title, i doubt many were sacrificed to pushing a 3ds zelda out.
of course it had a good launch. every system has a good launch, even the wii u did.
the next gen systems will struggle against the 360/ps3 too. it happens every gen.
yeah i think theyre one the right track with the atlus collaboration, securing TW101 and bayonetta 2, and that 3 game deal with sega. hope there's more to come from 3rd parties, and i hope it's exclusive so they can take advantage of the system.
probably did it to be individual. like how the gamecube cases have the gamecube logo on the bottom of the spine and not the top.
whether or not the system is successful in 2014 is up for debate, but one thing is for sure, it will definitely have some damn good games.
unfortunately me neither, not sure why people disagree.
X will take a while to localize and we havent seen any of SMT x FE since it was announced almost a year ago. zelda U will definitely be a 2015 release since we probably won't see any of it until e3 2014
yeah
if you ask me these 3 consoles have incredibly sub par launch line ups. they looked good on paper but in execution dead rising 3, shadowfall, knack, all those games that LOOKED good turned out pretty meh. with the delay of drive club and watch dogs it stings even more.
yeah, always fun to look forward to how nintendo utilize their hardware next.
its funny how they didn't seem to really PUSH games until the wii. like the n64 nintendo games look pretty bad, and its often said rareware did a lot of the technical pioneering on the system. then on the gamecube metroid prime was the best looking game which was Retro studios, and i remember people feeling disappointed about the graphics in sunshine.
@natecole
well to be fair that's because there were very few ps3's manufactured at first. it was a b*tch to find one for christmas and stuff.
i would say the ps4 is the first console launch ever that at least slightly meets high consumer demand in terms of numbers shipped.
the xbox one will likely not be far from PS4 at launch, just because i think MS also wanted to have tons of consoles available at launch. if numbers weren't a problem at the launch of las...
@MrDead
please explain where i said you COULDN'T enjoy Knack. I never once said that was wrong. i said its wrong to blame its mediocrity on the fact that it's a kids game when it's ESRB rating doesn't indicate that, and kid's games can be great regardless. Sony shouldn't release a game "hoping" for mediocrity either, regardless of it's target audience.
@newmonday
Why are you putting words into Sony's mouths? They just admitted they hoped for mediocre reviews, not that the game is meant for people BELOW the rating the ESRB assigned the game (E10+)!
a bad game is a bad game regardless of its audience, and nintendo makes child friendly games anyone can enjoy. spyro, crash, tons of other games are for kids but good games in their own right. if i played this mindless game when i was 10 after playing a game like spyro, i too w...
Nintendo makes tons of child-friendly games that get good reviews, among the highest of all time. And knack is souless by any standard, it even takes the formula of a pixar movie (childish facade, some darker themes) and goes no where with it. The game is E 10+ so it's clearly not made for anyone under 10, or they wouldve tweaked it to be E.
those are pretty good odds considering the xbox one hasnt even launched yet.
this will be a good generation i think ;)
Wow, you should never release a game "hoping for mediocrity". That's just pathetic.
They should have delayed it or reworked it entirely and released it hoping for great reviews. This could've been the next crash and wouldve broadened the PS4's audience.
yes velvet underground was an excellent band and lou reed was an amazing voice.
i have to wonder if all these young people who hear perfect day even know where it's from. i mean i'm only 16 but i'm well aware of how disconnected my generation with anything of substance or culture.
I think the lack of loading screens and number of zombies on screen are still pretty admirable technological feats.
Especially as the old games had terrible load times.
