I think you will find that it matters. It mattered to core gamers in 2005 and contributed to Ps3's poor start.

It'll matter to Xbone.

PS4 isn't a year late.
PS4 doesn't cost a lot more than its rival.
PS4 isn't incurring the wrath of gamers on the internet.

PS3 did all this and more, and it suffered. Microsoft have a much stronger competitor than in 2005, because in 2005, technically they had none. They had a free run for a year.

Despite this Sony eventually overcame their disadvantages to sell more and by the looks of it finish the generation stronger.

How did you get a 'Well said' in less than 30 minutes with hardly any agrees (or disagrees for that matter) and a sentence that is actually anything but well said? Makes no sense. LOL

But anyway.

Yeah so Xbone's GPU performance is restricted even further by kinect considerations, and it'll be a while before Microsoft unlock the rest it seems. Way to 'squeeze every last drop of power (they say)' out their their 'perfectly balanced (...

Entire effects ripped out of the console version. The car fires don't even give off smoke but there is a tonne of volumetric cloud on PC from fires and the building. Much better water, much better sky box, much better character fidelity and textures. Much more subtle lighting effects and shadows very evident in the shots of the character closeups where we also see all these particle effects misting the air in the background near the crates on the PC version. Far better modelling on the gl...

Xbox one will never be able to run PC games out the box. Even if it could it would be pitifully slow. The advantage of heavy console optimisation would be lost and it would just be a very slow gaming PC.

The original Xbox could do something similar anyway, with some modification you could run a Windows kernel on it and even emulated games. But it was horrifically slow relative to even a modest PC. This would be precisely the same.

Always amazes me that console gamers have no clue about PC gaming or its costs and yet feel compelled to comment on it.

Yet here is me, someone who knows about console gaming as a console gamer all my life and Pc gaming as a Pc gamer all my life and find myself embarassed at the people that come up with this codswallop about Pc gaming being soooo expensive or being forced into doing this and buying that and playing here.

Its all bull.

No you ...

Ha BOOM! Optimisation won't hardly matter the rate PC is striking ahead in raw performance.

A single PC card out before the consoles even arrive utterly destroying them. Honestly its embarassing how slow these new consoles are. This sort of thing was totally impossible the generation before because those consoles were quite fast.

If the top end $599 card can do this the midrange $299 cards will easily be doing 2560 x 1600 and potentially $199 cards doing ...

Plus potentially less resolution in action there now.

I think the new build looks more subtle and so it should. But the blurriness almost simulates the sort of downgrade of image quality you might expect from lowering the resolution even if its not the main reason for it.

Wanna see the PC version topped out.

If this generation doesnt go PC>PS4>Xbone>Wii U for everything I'll eat my hat.

Devs better push each platform and not wimp out because of potential spec differences

Cars roll in other games :-/

You would have to hit something to launch it to make it roll like that. Unrealistic. The car would just spin round and round not somersault like it's a gymnast.

Thats the next gen version of Battlefield on a brand new $499 console?

Oh wow. I am disappoint.

Zero 'next gen' feeling.

The balance!!!

Honestly Messi hasn't got the best right foot in the world but he surely has the best left one and that still makes him one of the greats....

As long as you have it where it counts and Sony do. Where it really matters for developers like ease of use and fill rates PS4 has killer advantages

Phew! I gambled on the ps3 version being good. Gta4 and RDR were clearly better on 360 but after seeing which version seemed to be lead I took the risk and went with ps3 Pre order. Mainly because of the one disc thing and online play being free.

Was a bit of a gamble but it worked! Rockstar finally pulled it off on Sony's machine after enough tries.

Sure enough the difference is minimal and you would only notice if they were side by side but gotta say chu...

A slogan that suggests they aren't beta testing now before launch and leaving it up to early adopters.

So much fail.

Who even works in their PR department? Really? Simple Jack?

Never go full retard.

Wherefore art thou PC version?

6 months I hope.

SSD game asset streaming FTW. No but really this will look amazing on PC. GTA4 looked way better with all the sliders turned up, and that is 5 years old. Love to see what this could do on a good PC.

I'll bet it would look like those original trailers (top) http://gamingbolt.com/wp-co...

Although I disagree about Crytek's games being mediocre, I have to wholeheartedly agree about said games performance on the consoles.

All those games do perform poorly. Crysis 1 is shockingly poor and runs painfully slow at times, below 20FPS quite a lot.

Crytek prioritise graphics over performance on console for sure. I predict that Ryse will push Xbox one too hard and while it'll probably look pretty good I doubt it'll run without hiccups...

Sony spent their transistor budget on graphics hardware and then it seems added secondary off die ARM processors to deal with audio/video/OS concerns in the background.

Microsoft wasted a huge bunch of their transistor budget with on die memory and audio Co processors. A massive amount of that die is just eSRAM which Sony don't need and used for more GPU space. It's clever in the sense that it's all integrated onto one die but also stupid in that they are going to...

You hardly NEED 60fps for a good racer. Hell console gamers have lived without it for years. It's useful for Sims because it allows the physics engine to update faster with the graphics engine. But some of the greatest racers of all time are 'only' 30fps. Stuff like project Gotham racing which is one of the best of all time and one of my fave racing series is only 30fps but it's still smooth as silk.

If drive club have considerably more advanced visuals and e...
