High end PC graphics usually suggests running at a resolution of 1080p or better. Plus this obviously isn't gameplay, its probably an in engine cut scene which typically use higher assets like pretty much every in engine cut scene does.

Nevertheless its a decent improvement on the existing consoles, long overdue.

I want to play this game and see if it has really good gameplay, because the main criticism aimed at the game kinda unfairly before many have pl...

An £800 PC from about 3 years ago playing the game maxed a whole year ago when it first came out maybe.

Yes, PS4 can match an old PC on an older game running on an even older engine like it bloody well should. Try not to stain your panties about it.

As much as I would love to shove an SSD in there I couldn't justify the cost of it to get a size I could live with. Because of the size of the installs, you know a bunch will end up 20gb+ you will want at least a 500gb drive. You are talking over 200 pounds for a decent one at that size still. That's 2/3 the cost of the console itself! A PC where everything pulls off the drive, or where you can have multiple drives then yea it's worth the outlay but not a console.

It's all good. It's all useful. It just adds to the consistent way we want our games and makes PC gaming that little bit easier and less annoying. Anything that does that is huge win.

Remember NFS Most wanted from 2005 that launched on 360 and then PS3? I do. Because they gimped the PC version. The next gen console version had slightly better effects despite the fact that it only ran 1280 * 720 and the PC version obviously supported and easily ran in 1080p.

EA usually gimp PC versions of games and fail to match them to next gen for the first year or so.

America wasn't even interested in World War 2 while Europe and Asia took up the brunt and worst of it for years. America didn't even care for years while Europe was basically destroyed by the worst war the planet had ever seen. It's easy to wear the rose tinted glasses and take so much credit when so many things were allowed to happen as long as it was oceans and thousands of miles away and seemingly not that important for the homeland which never gets a scratch on it because of t...

Take sole credit for freeing 'the jews'

And America only ever disposed of murderous dictators and never backed or even installed a bunch because they might be more favourable to American interests? The Shah of Iran, Mobutu, Pinochet, Stroessner- just a few that spring to mind.

Nice rose tinted glasses you got there WeAreLegion

Technically yes, they are.

The article is based on the adjustment of prices allowing for inflation, rather than outright cost, because of course, older machines WERE cheaper in outright price when they came out.

So applying this adjustment for technology today, based on the 'inflation' of comparable cutting edge graphics performance, PS4 will be the slowest playstation relative to cutting edge gaming technology of the period.

PS4 is c...

How can you have 9 women in a pop group all as spokespersons for a game? What is it with these massive pop groups anyway do the first 3 do the singing and the dancing and the others stand behind them as extras or for moral support or something.

Modern music huh

Microsoft's recent consoles have gone down in Japan about as well as little boy and fat man did.

That is the problem all American consoles are going to have over there.

How odd. This almost reads like an advert. Maybe it's just the writers style. Be interesting to know a little more about the background.

I'm just telling you how it is, and you're not liking what Im saying. Thats not really my problem, its yours.

Developers prefer more straightforward, flexible memory architectures. They prefer not having to balance their memory usage, juggle split pools and try to keep a small fast pool fed.

They will do it if they have to, but it'll never be as flexible as just one unified pool and it'll never be as efficient. It never was in PS3 compared to ...

@ BF4x1

Please quote me where I said Read/Write simultaneously is a downside?

All I said is that the maximum read you can ever do in the ESRAM is 109gb/s.

What if you want more? Well you have to shuttle to the main memory. You have to split up your code. The machine stalls otherwise.

This is a similar sort of thing where PS3's maximum video memory was only ever going to be 249mb. What if you wanted more? Its not possible....

The bandwidth thing was always an interesting point but their figures are still based on the assumption you will always read and write at the same time and you are always doing that.

Read alone is still limited to 109GB/s maximum from the ESRAM and its impossible to ever do more.

The beauty of Sony's setup is they can dump everything into one pool which is less complex, you don't actually have to use read/write cycles to move memory between a main poo...

I am well aware of the cost issue.

But it wasn't the point of my post. The point of my post was just to illustrate they are slower relatively than pretty much EVERY generation before.

The manufacturers took the hit on the cost of their cutting edge consoles the previous generations. The economic circumstances of today means that neither Microsoft or Sony will take the hit.

Therefore they both built cheaper machines- at least for them to b...

There are diminishing returns. But the thing is the 'massive increase in graphics processing power' doesn't apply as much as it used to these new consoles.

Xbox 360 and PS3 were a good ten times more powerful (potentially MORE) than their predecessors with a gap of 6 and a half years between PS2 and Xbox 360 launching.

PS4 IS the fastest next gen console and its maybe 8 times faster at best than PS3/360. Xbox one is 5-6 times faster than 360- if t...

If watchdogs doesn't run at least as well as a next gen console version on a midrange PC with a few years old i5 2500k and a GTX560 then I'll be surprised.

Oh sure, you won't get all ultra without a high end machine but then I doubt you'll get anything like ultra on any console.

Besides the fact you WILL eventually get ultra. Because in about 2 years you'll have a midrange PC and it'll be faster than the fastest machines around now. <...

Its not a sentence let alone a question. Not in the English language anyway.

Microsoft did indeed say that there was no overhead but in fact there is whether you need it or want it or not. That's a big fail.
