Its probably more to do with people getting over excited early on because they have a new machine. Leads to console gamers getting a bit overhyped for a game even if it isn't actually that good to play.
Most half decent games on the store end up with near 5 star ratings, its hardly news.
Bioshock Infinite has 4.5 stars. BUT.
One quick glance sees COD Ghosts at nigh on 5 stars, Payday 2, Dead Island Riptide, etc Any of these as good or bet...

There isn't many cars or tracks and it seems so rushed and cut down. Visually its ok but not mind blowing or a leap for a next gen machine.
Very basic reflections and weak anti aliasing, shadow map resolution etc I swear if you ran Forza 4 @ 1080p native it would look extremely similar

ARM based coprocessor + dedicated memory means lower main processor overheads = win.
If we are lucky Sony have at least a modern dual core A9 or something in there. There is a good chance of this since AMD's chip maker spin off manufactures these.

Its a launch review with a couple dozen games out. If you are buying the machine based on its launch titles you would never have bought a PS2.

If this were really that bad they could lower the resolution of the PS4 version, but it's probably a tiny thing that's no big deal.
Seriously if they went to 1600*900 in a patch that's still Waaaaaaaaaaay more than X box One and the game can't fail to be running really really really friggin fast if it nearly manages 60fps at 1080p.

It will be cheaper to make really soon if they get the main chip onto the newest 20 nanometre production node by spring 2014.
If they already have a design sorted for that node and they get it done as soon as possible they will make the console a lot cheaper for them to build within 6 months of it getting on the shelves
Its only a problem if you expect your $499 next gen console to provide you with a significant graphical performance improvement.
Other than that, if you buy a nigh on 500 bucks new console and only expect the game to look maybe a little bit better than one on a $150 8 year old console you're probably doing it wrong
I want a games console not a media centre. Thats what I have a PC for. I do understand that devices these days, we do want them to multitask. But even in that case, you have to get the priorities right.
As long as someone designs a games console to be a games console FIRST, its hardware designed to be as good as possible at rendering games, AND then having usable media functions added in afterwards.

Xbox One's APU is faster than this in terms of the graphics core. But not loads faster. Its much slower in terms of CPU performance.
Another generation of desktop APUs and their performance will outstrip Xbox one real quick, probably late next year.
