Vita or 3DS = kids and yound adults
Tablet or Smartphone = grown ups who's needs have matured beyond that of gaming.
What was their market share last gen?
Also, they were forecasting 12 million Vitas sold in the first year....not looking good at all for reaching that target.
This sort of game is a dime a dozen on IOS and Android devices. Ok for existing Vita owners but its no system seller.
Big difference for the PS3 is that for a while it was the least expensive blu-ray player on the market which helped it sell. If the games are not there then what reason would someone have for buying a Vita now and not waiting 2-3 years when its cheaper and have a better range of games available? Question is, if sales don't improve what might developers to do compensate?
Wow, nothing to get excited about. Is this really the full list?
Wow..maybe the panel is hiding a smaller, better looking model inside. That thing is ugly!
If you have ever worked on a project you would know the "lazy developer" blame game just is not accurate at all.
Ok, so why is the Vita not doing better? Its still relatively new to market.
I agree, some consumers will simply get both but the majority wont. And for those that get both will they want to carry two such devices around at the same time?
I don't see a lot of people with dedicated walkmans or cameras walking around with an expensive smartphone at the same time.
I agree that the vita offers the richest mobile gaming experience but I also believe that consumers wanting such an experience are in a clear minority.
I love gaming but I need my mobile device to simply do more. You can't under estimate the need for having a good browser and app support. The browser is something that Sony should have gotten right at the very least!
I am giving the Vita 12 months (from its launch date) to make up my mind but my big fear...
I sincerely hope that all Vita owners are not as ill mannered, imatire and disrespectful as you. I'm sure Sony would love to know how you represent the image of Playstation by simply attacking anyone, or country, that might not agree with your opinion.
I'm still not convinced the Vita will succeed. Full of (gaming) potential yes but has limited consumer appeal in the age of multi-purpose devices. Its like releasing a $400 phone (the Vita cost $400 for the wifi version in NZ) that is just a phone and not everything else phones have become. Phone purists might talk it up but I doubt it would sell.
Sony could have at least put in a decent camera and had native video playback for multiple formats. Given it wider appeal ...
What happened to Gravity Rush and Resistance on the Vita?
Imagine if this thing had the grunt to play games like Diablo III.
I'll bet it sells though. I love the look of Surface and Windows 8 looks like a nice interface.
So, what part of my comment stated I didnt know the Vita is a gaming device?
My biggest problem with the Vita is that for me it does not represent good value for money as my needs have matured beyond just gaming. I now have a 7" tablet that cost around the same but allows me to integrate with my work email and appointments, watch movies in any format and download apps. When i had my PSP Go i didnt understand what the big deal was about smartphones and tablets but I do now. Honestly, because the Vita is so locked down i just have little use for it. If i had on...
The fact that you still have to convert video for playback is a bigger fail that not having a next/prev button.
The Vita is almost as locked down as Apple products.
Ive not seen one person with a Vita yet in Wellington New Zealand. Most of thd stores here also give it very little shelf space. Its just not selling in these parts.
Big difference, one is constantly outselling the other by 2:1 or greater.
