Why? because a few people might pirate? Apple and Android devices enjoy really healthy sales of content on their stores and they can be hacked.
If Sony ever want the Vita to appeal more to the masses they have to give the masses what they want. The masses are now use to much more flexible and customisable devices.
Come on Sony, allow app support. Allow vita owners to chose their own browser, music player, video player, photo album, etc.
Yep, if only they would allow app support from the development community. I hate waiting for firmware updates to maybe get some features you're after.

Hmmm, without a controller a console is pretty much useless. Its not unreasonable to think that you could one day use a tablet through your tv and also use a Bluetooth controller.

You know, I can't think of a tv show or movie that pushes boundaries like a game like gtaIV. How much further do you want to push boundaries? Some things should never be aceptable regardless of the medium.
Its a mistake to think that the most powerful specs will determine which outsells what. Mass consumer appeal is more about which has the most perceived value. Tablets and smartphones are true multipurpose devices that also offer real convenience. Making them the nucleus of your media hub is just the next step of their evolution.

Consoles will become completely redundant when you can dock your smartphone/tablet next to your TV and it becomes console like.
Thing is that with games, like movies, its all there on the screen taking away much from the imagination. Best story telling medium is still a book in my opinion, just probably the most difficult for many to get into nowadays.

Your comment could so easily have been said back in the 80s to describe where gaming has already gone. Gaming has never been this violent or sexually explicit.
You would think they would throw in at least a 4GB memory card to entice poeple that are new to the Vita to buy games off PSN.
No memory card then you can't download games off PSN, come on Sony, show your support for the developers who are supporting your product.

I think games will help but the competition also has a lot of games and is less expensive. New games plus a price drop will definitely change the playing field.
This is eaxctly the same thing that happened with the 360 and RROD but MS turned that around. Thing is, MS at lead were seen to be doing something to address public opinion. Sony seem to be doing nothing except saying Vita sales are adequate.
I don't dislike the Vita but its simply to limited, I need a device that does more than gaming and no, Facebook and twitter support is not what I mean. I love having access to all sorts of apps like the imdb app, ebay, news, etc. I also love having a great web browser and being able to playback nearly every movie format without having to convert it first.

Don't even begin trying to compare the Vitas non gaming features to smartphone or tablet. And why did you make it personal?
I wish that the big 3 would just set a baseline standard in terms of h/w and allow anyone into the H/W market so devs could just focus on creating one version of a game. Sick of games being gimped because developers have to keep a lowest common denomintor in mind.

I don't see any mention of a price drop of either the Vita or the memory cards. We already knew the Vita had a solid line up in the works so how exactly will this translate in to a resurgence in sales?
