Ok Sony, do your spin saying these numbers are within expectations. Honestly, they need to start marketing the Vita properly, drop the price and include a memory card. Sure Vita owners will say rubbish but if nothing changes the Vita is simply going to die a slow death.
Price a toy like a smartphone and see what happens Sony. They were just as arrogant when the PS3 launched but at least they could fall back on the PS3 being a blu-ray player. Other than gaming there is no reason what so ever to buy a Vita so what happens when the games are not there?
Just show the games! You don't need cryptic marketing or skin, just show the games!
One of the best marketing campaigns I can remember was for the first gears of war. Sitting in a movie theatre at that came up on the screen...brilliant. Pitty there was nothing that climatic in the game :S
Vita titles hardly stick around. I would have thought Gravity Rush and MGS Collection would have been higher.
I wonder how profitable the Vita has been for developers so far.
You say that as though its going to be gone in 12 months. I'm going to wait and see if it gets ongoing developer support before I get one.
I have no idea just how much of an asset Home is for Sony. Does it generate any real revenue? It surely can't be much of a factor for those deciding which playform to buy.
Ok, because its Home casual gaming is now acceptable?
Here we go again, another article where existing Vita owners defend their purchase. Honestly, we all know the Vita is a capable piece of kit and already has some stellar games for it so why is it not selling???
I'm a long time PSP owner but am holding off on the Vita until it comes down in price and until I'm sure it will go the distance. I have to also say that there are no games that I really want on the Vita as yet.
I know Vita owners will disa...
I know I'm in the minority but the Dark Knight Rises was such a disappoinment.
Since when did need have anything to do with what we want? Its more a case of what we would like isn't always what we get.
It may not be a failure but it has a long way to go before its a success.
The Vita is definitely a slow burn at this stage. However, I dare say if any Sony employee spoke honestly about Vita sales to date they wouldn't be a Sony employee for much longer.
Why can't you believe it?
Don't think its a terrible game but for some reason this time round I found it quite a dull experience.
I wonder if they will discount the games effected on PSN.
@FriedGoat: by you're own definition you are stupid as well. Honestly, how about a mature discussion rather than just attacking people.
Maybe the Vita is still too expensive given most of the world is still in a recession. Maybe people just don't see it as being real value for money given its more expensive than a PS3. Maybe general purpose smartphones are what more consumers want. Instead of just hitting disagree try sharing a valid reason as to why its not selling.
Ok, with such a solid line up games already available why is it not selling?
Nah, you're right. 3 million adults didn't pre-order the galaxy sIII recently. Also, Sony themselves have said in the past the Vita is aimed at kids and young adults.
FYI. I was a PSP owner but in the past 12 months I have switched to a tablet. Why? Because of apps, a great browser and native media support. I simply got sick of having to convert movies to play on my PSP. In that respect I'd be no better off with a Vita.
So then, why is it not selling?
And don't make me.laugh, "non gaming apps". If non-gaming apps is important you wouldn't buy a Vita.
Anyway, why buy now when in 6 or 12 months time you'll still get everything on your list but for less and probably with a mem card thrown in.
