Super lazy click bait. For one, they only give us anecdotal evidence of an increase in complaints. For two, they point to Sony’s withdrawal from Twitter. We can all see that ship sinking. For three, parse this out: “An increasing amount of PS5, PS4 players are voicing their discontent”. Not number but amount. PS Lifestyle is body shaming PS4, PS5 players.
This is very cool. I played many versions of Super Star Trek, some text based and some with rudimentary graphics. Back in the day, you’d get games like this off a floppy disk from a friend. I also played the 25th Anniversary Star Trek game. Cool to see a melding of the two.
PS5 has backwards compatibility. Not with PS3, but then neither does the Xbox Series X.
Raise your hand if you never heard of Boosteroids until today.
Should Microsoft be trusted? Microsoft was going to raise the price of Xbox Lice Gold to $10/month until the severe backlash caused them to do a 180. Competition forces Microsoft to be trustworthy.
I have never liked the $/hour argument. If price is an issue, wait for a sale. That’s what I do for 99% of games I play. What we pay for at launch is the fun and excitement of a launch game spectacle, and this is the most spectacle you will get from any PSVR2 launch title.
“best value”
Scoff! Your old Xbox One or PS4 is the best value because you already own it. The consoles with disc drives are better values in the long run because you can trade games (for free!). If you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, you’ll pay more over the life of the Xbox Series S than someone subscribing to PS+ Extra over the life of either PS5 model (becasue PS+ extra is cheaper by about $80/year). Just sayin’.
Shoot, man, Horizon Call of the Mountain is amazing! Is it $610 amazing? No. But neither was the $410 cost to play Breath of the Wild. And people still bought the Switch like crazy. We have the platform. We have the technology. We have more games coming. Now is the time (if you have the money and a 6x7 playing area.)
Lack of backwards compatibility is only a problem for the user. For the seller, it’s great if you have to buy all new games. And what are buyers going to do for handheld gaming? Use their phones? Buy a Steam Deck? They’d have to buy all new games anyway.
If Microsoft adds enough caveats, any statement can be true.
So true. Xbox revenue was down across the board, including digital revenue. True believers said this was because of a general downturn in the game market. Surely PlayStatio was also suffering? Nope. PlayStation was doing great. PR puff pieces like this from IGN don’t move the needle for Xbox or Game Pass and now they are starting to look sad. Like, how bad is Game Pass subscription growth?
How much would Sony have to pay for PS+ parity? Microsoft won’t say and that’s why Sony has to say no.
This is the tweet thread that this all came from:

I feel like this quote has more paraphrasing than we are led to believe. Sony of course wants a deal with Activision. They don’t want a deal with an Activision owned by Microsoft.
I don’t agree to enabling porn but I would like to see 360 video on PSVR2.
After the rain comes the rainbow.
Fallout 4, Fallout 76. Sometimes the magic just isn’t there anymore.
What is going on with these delays? Hopefully this means a quality launch from Bethesda, turning around decades old tradition of launching buggy messes. I expect it means deeper issues with the game and gameplay. But hey, if an RPG like Outer Worlds can get an 8/10, Stellaris could be RPG of the year.
The trend is moving in favor of PS5 based on changes in supply and not changes in demand. It’s not like people were waiting for God of War to drop or Horizon Forbidden West to release on PlayStation Plus Extra. Folks were just waiting for consoles to be available to purchase.
Exactly this. The gaming media in general bent over backwards to praise Microsoft for releasing a $300 console, when at the same time they are mostly playing on PCs that have $1000 graphics cards. I’ve been saying all along that the Xbox Series S is a bad investment. What you really want is a true current gen experience and saving up $100 more for a PS5 digital or $200 more for a PS5 or Xbox Series S is not unthinkable.
The EU is planning on opening up phones to other app stores in 2024. For Microsoft this means having their own app store for Microsoft apps. Then EA will launch a store for its apps. Epic for its apps. Adobe for its apps. As a consumer, I so no thanks. If it’s not on the Apple App Store, I won’t bother.
