MS will never team up with Valve. They run competing stores on PC. Also, the Series S hardware couldn’t work as a handheld. That giant cooling fan is an indicator of the kind of heat that is pumped out by those chips. I don’t see much investment from Microsoft into ARM based chips and mobile graphics chips.
Like how Stray and Hades were GOTY contenders. Everyone appreciates these little gems but the industry will always pile the most awards on big budget AAA games.
Not gonna’ slid, I’d love to have an office suite for PS5.
I switched to PlayStation almost 10 years ago and I still care. Halo used to be the best games around. Halo 3 still has the best single player campaign ever made and you can play it co-op if you like. Sad to see Halo become irrelevant.
Xbox is built into Windows OS. There’s you’re extra 70M ”active” users.
Does anyone want an easier Elden Ring? Me, of course. The only reason I haven’t bought Elden Ring is because I suspect it will be too difficult and I will hate it.
Declines in both hardware and software revenue is bad news. This likely means the market share for Xbox isn’t growing. Looks like only Xbox One owners are buying Xbox Series S. Microsoft isn’t making up for last gen when Xbox 360 owners switched to PS4. We’ll see from Sony if this is an industry wide trend, but with PS5 finally selling on demand and God of War selling so well, I doubt it,
“The Witcher” on Netflix is based on the books, not the game. Though I have no doubt the success of the game was the reason Netflix adapted the books.
If any gaming platform is focused on services, it’s Apple’s iPhone and iPad. Not even a dedicated controller and Apple makes more on games than anyone else. The other guys need the hardware to attract customers.
I assume the folks at gamedeveloper.com know how lawsuits work and they are just clickbaiting us.
The problem isn’t that Microsoft’s first party exclusives are mediocre. If the games are profitable and some people like them, it’s a win for Microsoft. The problem is that Sony’s exclusives are some of the best games ever made. And then the TV shows about Sony’s exclusives games are also better than the TV shows about Microsoft’s exclusives. If Microsoft wants to win this console ware and take back market share it lost during the Xbox One era, it needs to double down down on quality.
No less ridiculous than when Mass Effect 3 was released and the Internet dog piled all over it.
Handhelds have always had a higher growth ceiling than home consoles (more hands than homes), and Nintendo Switch has the handheld market to itself. And look where that has got us. No competition in handhelds means no reason for Nintendo to release new hardware. if you have an iPhone, then your phone has more power than Nintendo Switch.
Units sold means marketshare. Selling a few very expensive units will not garner as much profit from games sales as selling more inexpensive units. It’s why console makers want to hit that $250 price point for the mid cycle refresh. It’s why Microsoft is selling the underpowered Xbox Series S.
Gone with the Wind is not the most viewed movie by any measure. Not even by number of showings. It made so much money because of the distribution strategy that sold it theater by theatre, building up hype as showings moved across the country. Many movies that are only released in China have more views. Take the US population, add a billion, and that’s the movie viewing audience in China.
Minecraft may have already beaten Tetris in units sold. Probably also in time okayed....
Russia bad. It’s that simple.
“He shouuld concentrate on his own games and mind his damn business.”
No one commenting here is concentrating on anything and minding their own damn business.
I love parody websites like The Onion and The Hard Times.
Same. Preordered the PSVR2. First foray into VR. My entire family is ready for motion sickness.
Don’t cash out your 401k early to buy game controllers.
