“Why do you need a better PS5 when there aren’t any games that will utilise its power?”
This is dumb. First off, it’s spelled “utilize”. Second off, all games will see a performance bump with a more powerful GPU. This is the same as PC, and this same website will continue to praise the newest Nvidia graphics cards even though older cards can run the same games. I don’t understand why cross platform is supposed to be a problem for a console but not for PCs.
“If they did start putting ads into games that's when I'd be done.”
Some games already have ads, but that’s besides the point. You’ve already accepted ads your Xbox. Microsoft’s job now is to get you to accept more.
Or double down on live service games. People only say they will buy single player games.
UltimateOne88 is 100% wrong about this. As a PlayStation certified gaming connoisseur, I want to know everything that happened with the development of “Concord”, including the cost. Keep the articles coming.
“According to multiple Kotaku sources”
PushSquare’s source is another site’s articles.
Sony is a Japanese company. Not a lot of white men in their Japanese headquarters. I don’t think they are rooting for you.
“TV show appearances”
What are you talking about?
This is utter bullshit. The $400M number was vetted by Colin Moriarty, the podcast fired by Kinda Funny for his views on women. Let’s be real about this number. The studio has 150 employees and didn’t partner up with Sony until April 2021. $400M over 3 years divided by 150 employees would be an average salary of $890k per employee. Like I said, utter bullshit.
I wanted this.
“should we expect more of the same in the future?”
Yes! Game Pass has exited its subscriber building phase and entered its money making phase.
That’s a lean roster for a service that costs at least $15/month.
It’s funny because Phil Spencer was against exclusives when Xbox One didn’t have any, was for exclusives when they bought Bethesda, and was then against exclusives when Microsoft wanted more money from all the game studios it bought. If we keep this cycle going, Phil should be for exclusives in a few years.
Agree 100% with this. I’ve seen so many games get less fun to play by going Souls-liie. “Jedi: Fallen Order” is perhaps the best example. Underwhelming gameplay.
“And by nothing, I mean exclusives and first-party titles.”
For one, this is just not true. PS5 has enjoyed a steady stream of first party games and 3rd party exclusives. Folks get worked up over cross gen games, but they can’t tell you what was wrong with the graphics in games like Horizon Forbidden West or God of War: Ragnarök on PS5. The new Astrobot game is out now. If you want more 1st party single player games from Somy, go buy it.
For two, do ...
You wouldn’t expect the first two generations of PlayStation to have a lot of remasters and remakes. Games as a medium has matured. This is what it’s going to be like fro here on out.
I thought the core of EA’s business was selling the same sports games year after year.
From a usability standpoint, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. From a marketing standpoint, damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Consumer don’t like things that are too different like the boomerang controller, side talking, and the WiiU’s second screen. But consumers don’t get excited about buying new things that look like old things like smartphones for the last 10 years.
If you haven’t seen deep discounts on Xbox yet, you never will. Microsoft deeply discounted the Xbox One and still lost marketshare to PlayStation. If anything, you’ll see discounts on Xbox as a means to sell Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions at $240/year.
@Hofstaderman, how did anyone think the Zenimax and Activision acquisitions would bring in new Xbox owners? Before the acquisitions, Xbox had those games and people were not buying Xbox.
Keep in mind the movie “A Star is Born” was remade 3 times. “Seven Samurai” has been remade as a western, a Medieval film, and a space opera, among others. We aren’t done with remakes of games at every quality level, nor should we be.
