I would love 1 good AAA game from Activision. The last Activision game I bought was Overwatch in 2016.
I agree with this and I often leave user reviews on Metacritic. Maybe have some users vetted before they can post review. Maybe have a waiting period so we don’t see so many reactionary 10/10 and 0/10 that people post to adjust the user score.
Let’s have realistic expectations. Bethesda games don’t pull in Halo numbers on Xbox, and the last RPG games we saw from Bethesda were Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. For a lot of fans, just scratching that Bethesda itch is good enough. For the rest of us, maybe wait for a patch or three before playing.
Folks want to compare Switch sales to console sales but they need to think handheld sales. Switch beat 3DS a while ago. Next up is the DS.
If people don’t like playing the games as much, then why would they want to watch other people play it?
A third place console can still be a success, I get it. Look at at iOS versus Android. Even though Android has more users, iOS makes more profit for developers. But that all dependents on having the high end customer. Microsoft has already pushed Xbox toward the discount crowd with Xbox Series S and Game Pass. If Microsoft wanted the high end market, they’d drop the Series S and have a Xbox Series X X ready to go. That’s not the strategy, though. Phil all but told us that Microsoft is going f...
Do you even know what “woke” means? I don’t want to play with racist and imagine I’m not alone in that.
If Starfield is no good, then what is the value of walling yourself off in the Xbox garden? I appreciate Phil’s honesty on this. He’s getting players ready for a 7/10 Starfield.
That Redfall is second on GamePass tells you a more about the quality of games on Game Pass than the quality of Redfall.
There is an assumption that Phil Spencer means xCloud when he’s talking about Xbox games on other platforms. But multi-platform also means multi-platform. You know what I mean? A post console war Microsoft could make a lot of money selling games to the entire market.
I get where this article is coming from. But that ship has sailed for Xbox this gen. By the time Starfield comes out, we will be 3 years into this gen, and PS5 owners will have so many amazing exclusives in their collection that they couldn’t afford to switch even if they wanted to. The age of exclusives is over for Xbox
100% this but put more simply, Microsoft still wants all the things they announced at E3 in 2013, and all those things are still just as unpopular. Phil Spencer might be able to bring Xbox box to its 360 glory days if not for Microsoft’s corporate goals standing in the way.
We aren’t only seeing this type of article now. We’ve long known Game Pass was the land of 6/10 games.
Game Pass Ultimate: $180 per year.
PS+ Extra: $100 per year.
Do the math,
The struggle is real.
The console graveyard is littered with great hardware that died because it lacked great software.
Give yourself extra dev time and wait to buy the game after a few performance patches.
This is 100% true. Even though new consoles have the smaller install base, they have the higher spending audience. Hogwarts may not even sell half as well on PS4 and Xbox One.
I think Phil Spencer’s recent comments show that it is already too late for Xbox to win this console war. Question now is whether Microsoft can make Xbox a winner for Xbox owners. Maybe. If they can release one new AAA per quarter on Game Pass, even if those games are 6/10, there is a value proposition for Xbox owners and PC Game Pass subscribers. Or, hear me out, Microsoft could release those games on all platforms. One new AAA game per quarter from any publisher would be a huge moneymaker. ...
“a reported $100 million for Square Enix’s Rise of the Tomb Raider”
The Tomb Raider franchise and Titanfall franchise were both hurt by Xbox exclusivity. By the time Rise if the Tomb Raider came to PS4, the hype was gone. When Titanfall 2 came to PS4, players treated it like a new franchise and it failed hard. And remember Dead Rising 3? Not many people do. Third party exclusivity just doesn’t work on the last place system.
