Dude, the biotic powers are the force. We knew it then and we know it now. BioWare lost the Star Wars license but made a Star award game anyway. And it was legendary.

This is how trademarks work. If consumers associate “Monster” with Monster Energy Drinks, then Monster has a protectable trademark. Monster has its name on a series of terrible motocross games, so it is in the game space.

Not the same people. A small percent of people, whales, buy this shit.

I would love to be mildly interested but all I see is another hero that is OP at launch to sell more battle passes and another support character that no one wants to play. Meanwhile, the 5v5 gameplay is still no good for tanks and we have no word on the PvE that was supposed to have been the real draw of Overwatch 2.

Even Nintendo Switch sales are like specks of dust against the size of planet when compared to cell phone sales. Even my old iPhone is probably more powerful than the Switch, has the same size screen, and definitely has better battery life. Sony is wading into these waters with the PlayStation themed backbone controller. What it needs to do next is offer up the games. If you build it, they will come.

With this kind of marketshare, I don’t see how how Microsoft’s GamePass strategy will work unless Microsoft has a plan to introduce GamePass on PlayStation and Nintendo.

No way is Sony going to discontinue the PSVR2. The device has a halo effect on the PS5 brand, because PS5 is the only console with VR. I do believe that PSVR2 has a cost problem. $550 is a lot to ask already and then none of the old VR games are backwards compatibility. I’m sure we will see price drops and pack in games once the early adopters are exhausted, but that only brings in people new to VR. Owners of the old PSVR need a carrot too.

Have you seen what PS+ Essential is handing out this month? Microsoft should Xbox Live Gold and make on-line play free for everyone.

Far Cry 5 is “free” if you pay for PS+ Extra.

Why wait for a sale when you can wait for PS+ or Game Pass.

This, exactly! Despite all of Microsoft’s talk of no more console generations, Microsoft was quick to drop Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X (Halo Infinite ran at less than 30fps on Xbox One 🤮) But Microsoft would be crucified if they decided not to deliver games for Xbox Series S or delivered nerfed games for Xbox Series S. For developers, that means compromises.

You are not a charity for game publishers. Let the consumer decide what they want to pay.

Are there more than 10 RPGs launching in 2023?

The biggest competition for Switch is the cell phone. Even an old hand-me-down like the iPhone XR is more powerful than the switch and has the same size screen. Anecdotally, I see folks playing on their phones much more often than I see them playing on a Switch.

Microsoft is happy to lose money (or at best breaking even) on Game Pass now so they can gain marketshare. It’s why Epic gives away games on PC. When Microsoft has a lock on consumers, that’s when the good deals end. We actually have an idea of how this will turn out for indies if we look at the effect of PS+ (now PS+ essential). Becasue of the scale of PS+, publishers have been burned before and they’ll be burned again.

Agree 100%. Spider-Man on PS4 sold as well as Fallout 4 on all platforms. So for everyone waiting on Starfield to buy an Xbox, there is someone waiting for Spider-Man 2 to buy a PlayStation. It’s bummer that Starfield won’t come to PlayStation. It’s not dealbreaker.

PSVR2, yes!

It’s not just making a good game. Lots of games have been better than Call of Duty games over the years. The problem for upstarts is brand recognition and reaching a critical mass of players. Just look at Microsoft’s own Halo franchise and its moribund population on Steam. If Halo isn’t a system seller anymore, what chance does a new IP have?
