“a few scant PlayStation Blog posts”
My RSS reader is drowning in PlayStation Blog posts. Sony also sends out e-mails, publishes podcast, has their trailer videos, etc. I think this guy is mad that Sony didn’t send him review copies.
Hello Games is the best example of a game that makes money with free updates. They keep updating No Man’s Sky, the game gets continual hype, and people keep buying it. ‘Nuff said.
Dude, they are showing gameplay trailers. Expectations meet reality.
Microsoft tried a mobile top down shooter with Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike in 2013 and 2025. This went so well that they never did it again. I’m sure this Doom for mobile will be just as successful.
“Looks at amount of our taxes that goes to military campaigns of America, Israel and already goes to Ukraine.”
This is the worst kind of “whataboutism”. Russia has committed tends of thousands of war crimes in Ukraine and indiscriminately bombed residential buildings. Except maybe the Taliban, there is no contemporary comparison.
“Demonizing every human being in Russia including developers accomplishes nothing.”
Ukraine pointed out that...
Spin off Call of Duty studios into a separate publisher or sell them to another publisher. Microsoft can keep Overwatch.
I’ve heard this before, each decade since the first console dropped in the 1970s. (I’m old.) In the last 29 years in particular, console gaming has been dominated by 3 players and all new comers have been dispatched. (Stadia is just the latest.) Console gaming is not going to change in 10 years. The big three will release new consoles and folks will still play games like Call of Duty. Let Microsoft buy Activision now and they will just wait 10 years to take over the market. It’s surprisingly ...
Only an issue for folks with a PS5 and a gaming PC. For the rest of us, not a question at all.
This looks like a good game to blast through on easy mode once it hits PS+.
No problem with a trickier going Meta. I’m still non plussed by Will Smith and that will bleed into how I receive movies that he stars in. But indirect profit is a weak reason to avoid media. Every project will indirectly line the pockets of all kinds of people. Lest we forget all of the developers who are directly profiting, and we have no issues with them!
Difference is that Insomniac has a proven track record and Bethesda has the opposite.
I’m getting flashbacks from Mass Effect Andromeda. BioWare wasn’t ready to launch the game but EA wanted to meet their fiscal year end. EA did an internal review that predicted a Metacritic rating of 80. That was good enough for EA, and they released a buggy mess that almost killed the Mass Effect franchise. Looks like Bethesda needs more time, and Microsoft should give Bethesda more time. If that means another bad showing for Microsoft exclusives, so be it. I’m not here for Microsoft. I’m he...
Microsoft can fund Xbox forever with profits from Office and Windows. They want to build market share and then monopolize games. Sony can’t afford to lose money on PlayStation. Sony used PlayStation to support it’s money losing businesses.
Although PS5 is dominant in North America, Xbox is a closer second here than anywhere else. The end of supply constraints might change that.
Sorry, meant Extra. Autocorrect and swiping words never helps help. Ps+ Essential is up to $60/year. Deals are plentiful.
PlayStation Plus Essential is definitely 100% worth it. You need it anyway to play most games online. (You don’t it for F2p game.) it’s not like Xbox where Games with Gold are trash.
PS+ Essential is probably worth it. It’s $100 a year versus $180 a year for Game Pass Ultimate.
We are in the early days of these game subscription services when it’s all about market share. Lose money now so you can take over the industry and make money later.
Microsoft already admitted that Game Pass cannabilizes Xbox game sales. And anyone paying for a subscription service knows how it goes. Take Two is speaking for itself here. GTA V was the top download on PS5 in January 2023, over 9 years from release. Other publishers won’t be so blessed.
This is an uphill battle for plaintiffs. They are basically asking a court to force a retailer to offer gift cards for their store. Would the court manage the point of sale activation system? Press X to doubt.
This links to a study published in 2020. Encouragingly, the study has been cited by later research on the positive effects of video games.
