Do you really think GamePass will be around for 40 years?
Taxes are not a surprising reason and it’s why I don’t enter contests for prizes like this. (Plus these kinds of services can have a surprisingly short life. Remember Microsoft’s music and video services? Imagine if you had won those for life.) $1,752 taxes (depending on your income) would pay for a lot of years if GamePass all on its own.
The pinnacle of bad story but great gameplay is Destiny and Destiny 2. What is the Traveler? What is the Darkness? What the heck is happening? No one knew. But shooting the aliens and robots felt so good.
“Third party publishers should be multiplatform”
So you are ok with Microsoft spending $80B to buy up third party publishers and Sony spending up to $18B in response? Because with enough consolidation, we won’t have third party publishers.
What an odd way to solicit a campaign contribution.
I will die on the hill that “Death Stranding” was the best game of 2019.
“everyone”?
I tell you what, I go on those comments and talk about pay-to-win and an army of whales will defend these games. They say things like it’s not pay to win if you have to complete the battle pass or git gud. They will defend their right to use cheats. Many folks like me will keep raising the alarm but the fact that 95% of players aren’t up in arms over this tells you a lot about the lack of human desire for true excellence.
I don’t like the use of “claim” in the headline. Microsoft is saying they have detected this shit by Russia. They’ve reported this before and they will report it again.
If you want to own a game, you can’t rent it. You have to buy it.
Bethesda is now owned by Microsoft and Microsoft has a lot more pressure to comply with embargoes and sanctions. (Would you want the Russian military using Azure?) My guess is that Microsoft, like most companies, is preparing for the day the US and Europe announce a total embargo against Russia.
Same for PS+ Extra. “Ghostwire Tokyo” showed up this month and I am enjoying it. Solid 7/10 for me.
Printed on the PS5 boxes where?
Because Sony has already built in support for its studios and 3rd party studios that make exclusives for PlayStation. Microsoft doesn’t have that, apparently, and Bethesda isn’t exactly known for high performing games.
Oof. For a multiplayer game, 30 fps is like sandpaper on my eyes. Double oof for Xbox Series S. We can expect performance mode on Xbox Series X to be in 1440p or 1080p. What will it take for Series S, 720p?
Because if every consumer in the UK has access to Call of Duty, the UK regulatory authority has less of a reason to block Microsoft’s attempt to monopolize game content. These kinds of concessions are common with these kinds of acquisitions.
Too bad you can’t take assets from Dream and port them to other games or vice versa. Dreams has so neat tools and great tools for collaboration. At least the game isn’t disappearing. I’ll keep trying the games that folks’ make.
I hate fan casting. Make your own damn Star Wars game.
Clearly gameplay has stagnated. Halo 3 has more realistic a.i. than any contemporary game. But I wouldn’t say that gameplay and ai have suffered because of a focus on fidelity. The graphics team is separate from the gameplay team. Maybe the problem is corporate consolidation of game studios. As long as games are making a profit, no reason to innovate. If you want to see a parallel, look at the auto industry.
I remember when Xbox fans were making the rounds and talking about emulation made Xbox the best console. Turns out that Xbox is a walled garden like all the other consoles.
The prize has to be $600 or less to go unreported, which is why you do see a lot of $600 or less in prizes like iPads and consoles.
