Not to mention the level design was lacking. Such a case of quantity over quality... I actually thought Ground Zeroes was a much better experience while it lasted. The level allowed for a wide range of routes, access points and different strategies, while still retaining thoughtful design for each section. TPP just felt like generic settlement after generic base, not a single memorable area among them.

For me, MGS4 only just, by a hair's breadth, takes the top spot for me, with 3 aan extremely close second and 1 and 2 a close third and fourth.

MGS4 had its flaws, absolutely, but I felt like the moment to moment excitement I felt from start to end was a cut above the other games. Plus the controls were a big improvement.

While I think MGS3 has a better story (and The Boss is just an awesome character) if you look at them as standalone games, I love t...

Valve makes more money from Steam than they could ever dream of making by developing Half Life 3. They love money. A lot.

If gaming goes digital-only I'll finally have a chance to complete my backlog, plus I'd probably buy some of the systems that I never got around to playing, like the 3DS and Wii U. That should easily keep me going for several years. :)

*Averse, not adverse.

Examples:

Little Timmy is averse to digital games.
Little Timmy has an adverse response to digital games.

The more you know. ;)

And Trackmania Turbo isn't here because...?

Come on... As far as trophies go, only 0.2% of players have even UNLOCKED Black Series, let alone achieved gold on every level, which has to be the most difficult thing I've ever accomplished in a game. Dark Souls 3 was a super forgiving cakewalk in comparison.

I sold many of my old consoles and games in the past and have ended up re-buying them. When I was a kid I used to think once the next generation of consoles came out it would be so much better that I wouldn't care about older games. Oh how wrong I was...

Oh, and physical all the way for me. Very very rarely do I buy digital, and only if it's cheap. It almost feels like I don't even own games if I have them digital. Thank goodness for companies like Limited Run ...

I completely agree. I wanted to like this game so much, especially with Evolution Studio's great track record of the Motorstorm and WRC series. But I simply could not stand it. Graphically, it's great, but the handling is atrocious, and it lacks any kind of soul or creativity. It feels like someone tried to make the most generic, uninspired racing game they could possibly envision and made it a reality. Such a shame...

I'm just glad Dirt Rally exists to give me ...

Played the PSN demo and absolutely hated it. Such a shame... I was a massive Motorstorm fan (even Apocalypse, which many hated) and was sorely disappointed. Thankfully, Dirt Rally has filled the racing game void for me.

The thing is, I think innovation is usually incredibly well received by the gaming world, provided the idea is executed well.

Look at Minecraft, and how different an approach that took compared to games that were on the market. Same thing with the Souls series, which did the opposite of what was expected with ideas that other devs would be scared to do, and became a juggernaut of a series. Look at the hype for No Man's Sky. Look at the hype for VR gaming. Look at Porta...

I'm in the same boat. I also won't buy the 2nd game in the series if the 3rd gets announced as a PS4 exclusive. I would rather have the trilogy on one system, and the Vita is generally the best place for games like this. Unless they're going to really push the power of the PS4 (which, let's be honest, ain't gonna happen) I just don't see the point. If they want to make PS4 exclusives then it makes sense to start a new series, or a new trilogy in the LoH universe.

MGSV is easily one of the most divisive games in recent memory, and all I can say is, I hope everyone can accept the differing views instead of haphazardly accusing gamers of wrongdoing for merely having a different opinion.

With that said, as a massive MGS fan, I'd give it a 6/10 at best and consider it to be the most disappointing game in my 24 years as a gamer. But if you love it, fair enough.

The only things I didn't like about Human Revolution were the boss battles, the opening section of the game where shooting your way out is your only option, and the "press the button" ending. Sort those out, add some more lore and intrigue, (connecting it with the original Deus Ex) and they just might have a near perfect game.

Oh, and bring back the Men in Black and dragon sword from the first game. That would be beyond epic. :D

Certainly a lesson in releasing a great game on day one instead of rushing it out unfinished and patching it afterwards.

I'm hyped like mad. I loved Deus Ex and Human Revolution (we'll pretend Invisible War didn't happen, kay?) and I'm confident that this will also succeed. However, I'm avoiding any and all gameplay. I want the experience to be completely fresh. :)
