Oh crap, I downvoted your comment when I read the first couple lines, now I realise you were actually parodying the self-righteous numpties who refuse to accept negative opinions on the game. And now I can't change to an upvote.
So... I guess you did so well, you actually fooled me. XD
The best thing a reviewer can do is discern between aspects that affect everyone and aspects that will appeal to some and turn off others. So many reviewers I see are either lambasting or heaping on praise for a game for a particular reason, despite many gamers having the complete opposite opinion about it. I.e. "Oh my gawd it's turn based, that sucks. Real time is better."
"Be open-minded."
I prefer the phrase "talk with your wallet." Which I am going to do. By not buying the game.
For me, I'm just sick to death of modern games that hold your hand, assume the player is a moron, enable various tools so the experience is as trouble free as possible, offer up a skip button... and then "hard mode" is just the same game but enemies do more damage, and you have to resort to cheap tactics, grinding, or memorising everything. That is, of course, assuming hard mode isn't still really easy.
Best GBA game I played was Castlevania: Circle of The Moon. While Symphony of The Night is the series high point, CoTM comes very close for me.
95% of PlayStation Vita fans would rather play Gal Gun: Double Peace than have sex.
I made up a list of my top 20 games of all time, and only ONE of them makes the list because of multi-player. (Timesplitters Future Perfect) There's just no beating a well crafted single player experience.
I played EGTTR and Ethan Carter and really enjoyed them. It's definitely a genre that I could play more of, provided they're well made and full of intrigue. Case in point, I played Gone Home and thought it was a pile of ****.
This is another divisive game that people will spend hours arguing about. But then, so many things considered masterpieces are divisive. Despite the fact I have no interest in this game, I at least have to commend the team for making something so ambitious and so different from what's on the market these days. Whether you love the game or think it's dull as dishwater, just play nice and respect the opinions of others.
I knew someone who did that with Silent Hill 2. Instead of experiencing the terror of that game he just watched a bunch of stitched together gameplay segments meshed with cutscenes, ruining the potential experience forever. I literally do not understand this mindset.
Stop watching Let's Plays. Problem solved. NEXT!
*Someone plays game without finding out all information and is surprised by the content*
"Oh my God! It was made clear what game it was! You should've watched all the videos! You're just butthurt because it's not what you expected!"
*Someone plays game after looking at all info and feels let down by there being no surprises*
"Oh my God! Why did you spoil the game for yourself? People should just go into games without expectation...
"People are never satisfied lol you give them a masterpiece they still bitch and complain."
These things are completely subjective. There is not a single game in existence that everyone will like, and every high profile "masterpiece" is disliked by some people because that's the way the world works. People have opinions! To say "people are never satisfied" is making a huge leap in logic just because certain people don't like one game.
"What you get in the box should work without a hitch, and without a patch."
"Otherwise that disc you hold in your hand may as well just be a slip of paper with a download key."
This is exactly how I feel, and much of the reason why I find myself more into handheld gaming this gen than any previous. I know that the vast majority of handheld games will simply work out of the box, with no day one patch whatsoever. As for console, I'm worried th...
"The fact that, in modern times, games don't ship in proper condition and require early patches is a serious problem in the industry and if either the games or devs & pubs that put them out there suffer for it, they can blame themselves."
THIS. So much this. Especially in a day when content gets locked to pre-order only, people want to know about the game before it gets released. And now people are shamed for playing a game "before it's ready?&quo...
Yup, me too.
It's annoying because if they'd just message something like, "Damn! I'll get you next time. :P GG" then I will respect them for being a good loser, maybe even add them to my friend list or whatever.
The worst for me is if I play against someone really good, I just about win but I'm still impressed with their skill, so I start thing a message complimenting them, saying "that was so close! GG" or whatever. Then before I finish typing they&...
I lost faith ever since the disbandment of Team Silent. Everything since then has just been more of the same. Being completely out of touch with consumers and throwing legendary developers under the bus, and being shocked when it backfires. An apology won't solve anything.
Aladdin on the Mega Drive is one of the best licensed games ever made, right up there with Toy Story 2 (PS1 version), Batman: Arkham Asylum, Gregory Horror Show and Spiderman 2.
Dat cave escape stage...
"Not a good game."
*Gives it 7/10*
