I would add Alan Wake & Siren: Blood Curse to this list. Not a bad one either way, however.

Btw, the Left 4 Dead series isn't Microsoft's at all. It's not even published by Microsoft.

Sony actually has more "genre leading" franchises than Microsoft. There's no God of War equivalent for the 360 for instance, and we know that's a genre leading franchise. Gran Turismo is far ahead of Forza. There's no LittleBIGPlanet equivalent on 360 (although I'd argue that's a genre dominated by Nintendo). No Heavy Rain equivalent on 360 and so on.

In fact, Microsoft really only beats Sony in the 1st & 3rd person genres (unless we include ...

@ MOTY: Well what you prefer is irrelevant in the grand scheme of it all, where Sony's exclusives help their brand. If it were about a single individual, they wouldn't try as hard as they do. Because you don't prefer Sony's titles doesn't mean there's something wrong in offering more content than your competition.

And to say the PS3 exclusives you mentioned don't bring enough to the table "like 360 exclusives" really puts things in perspe...

Which is precisely the article's point. Microsoft lacks diversity in conjunction with Sony. Take away Halo, you lose a lot of it's support columns. Take away Gran Turismo or Uncharted from Sony, sure the damage will be evident, but thy have so many IPs (and now studios) that the slack would be covered.

As a gamer, Halo selling 11 million is mainly great for the company that owns it. Sony selling exclusive game after exclusive game better suits my needs.

@ Digital: I meant that as a whole. Considering how much doubt HR had prior to it's release, in the end it proved that many people don't share that opinion. Admittedly, maybe "most" was the wrong term.

It's a good thing most people don't share that opinion.

Won't ever happen. Unlike Crash, Sony owns the Uncharted IP. It will always be PlayStation-only.

It doesn't get much more close minded (and flat out wrong) than that.

That one was Fiv5. This is the second one (since they have a 3-game contract with Sony and Heavy Rain was just the first).

The more Quantic Dream goodness, the better!

5282d ago 7 agree0 disagreeView comment

Actually, Quantic has made three successful titles (Omikron: The Nomad Soul for the Dreamcast/PC, Fahrenheit [Indigo Prophecy] for the PS2/Xbox, & Heavy Rain for PS3).

I can see them acquiring Quantic Dream, but not before their next game (which is also PS3 exclusive).

I have to wonder why you're as dishonest as you are so often. Not ever was it said (nor "pointed out") that the inFAMOUS IP sold poorly, in fact the exact opposite was reported. Also, Media Molecule did NOT say they weren't making anymore LBP titles, they said they were on to making a new one.

OT: Excellent read. Really puts things in perspective as I imagine they'll get a nice little bump to their tech and produce even higher quality games!

inFAMOUS 2 didn't sell well according to who?

5283d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

As a matter of fact, they have:

Best to know what you're talking about in discussions like this.

If the inFAMOUS hadn't been a commercial success, I doubt this acquisition would have happened at all.

I think this author has good intentions, but doesn't see the big picture. Even if it were about power, the original PlayStation & PlayStation 2 didn't win their generations on power and power is precisely the reason the PS3 had so many early shortcomings.

Now with a clearer head and a robust first party arsenal, Sony can jump to the PS4 with a bit more reservation about "being the most powerful".

Edit: He also seems to be a little confus...

Actually, Sony doesn't own the rights to Heavy Rain (still very much Quantic's), but Resistance & Ratchet are their IPs, so they more than own the rights to those.

OT: Excellent news! SCE just got a whole lot nicer!

Can't wait! Tekken Tag is still favorite PS2 game, so it getting an HD touch-up is a bonus!

Failed at what though? Going from first with the PS2 to last with the PS3 may be the most substantial problem it had (not to mention, costing Sony a fortune before and after release). However, it's providing such a solid line-up of games, "failure" really isn't the proper term.
