Eh, the slimmest PS2 models were released just prior to the PS3 releasing. A slimmer PS3 isn't out of the question based on current time.

However, I do feel the PS3 is slim enough. I think more colors should be offered to the US, but outside of that, not much needs altering.

Yeah, and with this mindset, the need for multiple consoles dwindles, crippling the industry. No thanks.

You really make too many ridiculous assumptions.

You have no idea what either Nintendo nor Sony can afford. Regardless of what you say about "revenues", profit" or whatever (all your own speculation anyway), Sony is providing new IPs late in the gen because it's what they do (see God of War at the end of last gen, a gen where they also provided the most successful console in video game history).

Back on topic: Monster Hunter would never be an Xbox exclusive. The idea of it may help them there a bit, but i...

What's irrational is you expecting a game that will never be on another platform, no matter how hard you petition, to be on one.

Either buy a PS3 or don't get the game. It's that simple.

OT: Gotta credit Sony so much with this project! The fact that there are even any petitions, regardless of how ridiculous they are, speaks volumes about how much this game will impact the industry and change the survival action genre forever.

I wouldn't sit and twiddle my thumbs betting on it, pal.

Everyone CAN play it, if they buy a PlayStation. This is how exclusives always have worked and always will work - and thank goodness for that. Everything can't, and won't, be on every platform.

Something people need to come to terms with. No, it won't be on the Wii U, PC, or Xbox. PlayStation platforms only.

I agree with much of this. That's why you have to admire what Sony's devs can still accomplish, because they have to bottleneck the hardware and still pull off industry-leading console visuals.

This is also one of the reasons I'm building a Gaming Rig later this year. I would rather have the best-of-the-best and it seems the PC is the only way to truly do that (though I will still get a PS4 and Xbox-Next).

So much negativity, so little bubbles to express it with. :)

But Beyond and The Last Of Us ARE leaps better looking than God of War III. Thus, his point remains.

I notice it much less with Forza, but it's understandable, given GT is a MUCH bigger franchise and has a lot more riding on it.

Still doesn't mean things are 100% fair, but it is what it is.

Which means it could be quite close to 8 million by now.

"Lol no" what? It IS this gen's most popular driving simulator (seeing that Gran Turismo is the most popular racing sim franchise on the market, your words make even less sense).

Then you don't know the sole reason behind picking up any gaming console - offering GAMES another console doesn't. Your reasoning sounds like an excuse to not be disappointed in your purchase. Not saying the 360 is a bad console, I have one and love it, just your point lacks simple understanding.

OT: So much speculation, but the next gen truly begins in 2012 with the Wii U.

360, PS3, & PC fans all complained about the quality of RAGE. Perhaps you're only seeing the side you choose to see.

OT: Not sure what else Carmack wants, but I respect as a developer. I just hope his next game has better execution (though I own and enjoyed RAGE).

Let me educate you a bit - one major US event doesn't invalidate another. In the gaming world, specifically in the United States, very few things in entertainment will top Halo 3's presence just prior to release and during. It's even more comical that you suggest a video game can't mak...

I agree 100% on Gears of War, but I think Mass Effect, while highly regarded, didn't really shape the current gen. It helped improve on itself more than anything else, and while it's my favorite trilogy this gen, I can't say it's one of the Top 5 of shaping the gen.

4963d ago 8 agree4 disagreeView comment

When I think of games that shaped the generation, I'd have gone with titles that truly made people reconsider their projects.

To me, that would be, in order:

5. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - While Uncharted 3 had it's improvements, it was Among Thieves that helped pushed things forward, offering cinematic storytelling on an unparalleled scale. To this day, it continues to inspire devs to start looking at creating cinematic experiences in a similar vein...
