Didn't you know? Journalists know how good the hands on gameplay feels even if they've never got their hands on it.
Yeah, what's even funnier is that he doesn't even keep his criticisms to things that don't require a controller in your hand in order to judge them.
He just straight up says the bits he thinks aren't good are the hands-on gameplay elements, the exact thing he can't truly know anything about since no one outside CDPR has actually played it, afaik.
I think you're absolutely right, especially regarding DS, but I must say that I simply can't feel sorry for either the companies or the players.
If the devs/publishers really want to build hype to get those pre-orders and sales, then they only have themselves to blame if some customers feel let down because the hype got too much. They have to take the rough with the smooth and it's their choice to decide what matters most to them.

You'll be on this forum saying how much you loved Cyberpunk 2077 but that you're enjoying the sequel even more ;)
Yeah, not every game that is fps has to feel like Doom or a mil-sim to have enjoyable mechanics.
Yeah, made no sense at all.
Not to mention the insinuation that a first person perspective is automatically a deal breaker. It's good to have variety.
Stupid clickbait article. Basically says, 'looks great but I'm not sure about hands on gameplay'...for a game that's 8 months from release and that no journo has played yet. Besides, RDR 2 and GTA do just fine despite the actual gameplay mechanics being the least of their qualities.
I mean, just look at this dumb intro line.
"At the Cyberpunk show 2077 in Cologne I saw a devilishly impressive game, but just a game nonetheless."...
Yep, you've summed it up in a nutshell.
See? This is an even-handed, well reasoned comment, devoid of exaggeration and hyperbole.
Someone who is a fan, recognises the game's (probable) great quality but doesn't blow it out of proportion.
Gears can be a huge success without being a GOTY.
I'm guessing it'll be a high quality title, a great entry to the franchise. For people who are fans of the series it'll give tons of content and hours of fun. BUT.....
.....given the fact it can't stray too far from what it's done before, and that what it's done before is no longer particularly amazing, I don't see how it will 'wow' multi-plat people to the point it's the GOTY.
Whilst I enjoyed both games, despite the second one being a bit unbalanced with level design a bit too gun heavy, I'm not sure that two games qualifies as a 'collection' :)
Yeah, and that's the problem they seem to have now.
I'm really impressed they're so committed to the game but I guess it goes to show that first impressions last. Bit of a sad story all around.
They'll still have to work really hard to get people's trust in the build up to whatever game they launch next because few want to buy a game that's only complete 1-3 years later.
I agree with @sushimama
It's a poorly argued article in many ways. I take issue with these three bits in particular.
1: "The nature of our culture right now and the state of America, what with mass shootings, political misalignment, and prejudice still running rampant, another Bully installment may just fan the fires."
Well, it's only part of American culture and America itself is only part of the world. It's a b...
Imho, it's due to an angrier, more competitive and aggressive society combined mental health problems, easy access to high grade firearms and an incredibly sensationalist media that covers and dramatises these incidents so that the perpetrators gain almost celebrity status, albeit momentarily.
In other words, it's a perfect storm of societal and legal conditions.
I don't think there are many gun supporters who are happy with the thought of vio...
No, he's wrong. In the words of Reggie, 'My body is ready' and I'm betting most other people's bodies are too.
You know, back in the 80's it was 'video nasties' that were corrupting people and causing violence but the nonsense of that dissipated within 5-10 years or so.
Video games though? They've been coming up with this crap for well over 10 years now and it shows no sign of abating. Why? Because it's interactive? I don't understand it.
Imho, getting angry and letting publishers and devs know about it is fine but.....
1. Make your point strongly but respectfully, without personal insults or threats.
2. Target the right people, probably the publishers in this instance.
3. Only do it once and restrict further comments to any replies rather than just continuously harassing someone over and over in the same way.
I must be missing something here. If you're going to use real money to gamble, why would you use it when you can't win real money back? I mean, there are plenty of online services that would allow you to do just that.
And if you want to use real money to get in game money, why gamble and most probably lose it when you can just buy the shark cards?
Yeah, I loved Old Blood and really enjoyed the Raven Software 2009 game too. In fact, I prefer Wolfenstein with more enemy variety and technological/supernatural elements so I was hoping Old Blood was a taste of what New Colossus would be.
Hehe, two more examples of stupidity from this article.
"The hype is so gigantic that some people seem to expect the game to start a new era in the world of interactive entertainment, to secure GOTY awards for the years 2020-2077, and bring about world peace."
Says who? This two-bit writer? Ha, gtfo with that nonsense! Who are these people who have said this? Who put this writer in charge of deciding our expectations on our behalf and declar...
