Blood Money is still my fav :)
They claimed tax relief? That's a bit low. Yeah, all legit and legal but come on, from a moral and ethical perspective, they haven't got a leg to stand on.
They've allegedly claimed almost 20% of all tax relief handed out for the past 5 years. Then again, they're based in Scotland aren't they? They get free University tuition and care for the elderly too. I guess hand-outs are in their blood ;P
My favourite Far Cry by far, no pun intended.
For its time it had fantastic human AI, it introduced semi-open world originality in the way you could approach situations in a variety of ways, along with novel emergent gameplay the series became known for AND added incredibly atmospheric Doom 3-like areas with the Tri-gens.
On top of that was a brilliant difficulty setting that used checkpoints to increase the tension, cutting edge graphics and a great se...
Hehe, yeah, looking back it does seem to be an atrocious design but at the time it somehow worked. I remember Turok and Golden Eye feeling great to control, even when playing couch-versus.
Tried playing again recently on an emulator though and it was horrible. Would take ages to get used to again now we are accustomed to modern controllers.
Loved Phantasy Star 2, despite its grindy nature and unforgiving mechanics. It was my first JRPG and I was completely immersed in its sci-fi, star spanning worlds.
I mostly enjoyed PS 3, but something was missing...possibly the repeated change of characters prevented me being fully engaged, that and the strange futuristic and yet still medieval feel that didn't grab me.
When I got around to PS 4, I wasn't expecting much but I loved it. Less grin...
Sadly, I think the 'story' in many places is that CP2077 is a highly anticipated game from a company that many websites can't wait to stick the knife into.
Why? Precisely because they won't avoid subjects that may offend or change their vision to cater to political correctness. After E3, CDPR already had a bunch of accusatory articles written about the game.
The vultures are just circling and desperately hoping to find something to feast...
You're right there, especially if we meet the 'mix it up' person from the poster. That's one obscenely huge cybernetic member that needs definitely needs blocking if you value your health and like the ability to sit down without agony ;)
Imho, deservedly so. Well done Bend Studios!
Exactly.
The time a game takes to finish is irrelevant, it's all about whether the entertainment is good enough for the player in question, so it's highly subjective.
I played Witcher 3 for over 120 hours and enjoyed all of it. Dead Space 2 was roughly 10-11 hours but seemed to run out of ideas and had pacing issues for the last hour and a half, so I found the very end bits a chore. I still loved the game overall though.
So, f...
As long as it's not the animation, character design or dialogue writing team then they should be ok ;)
Well, yeah. You have to look at customer demographics when you're selling a product, and that's what it is, a product. Most games aren't meant to be politically motivated social messaging.
Apparently the Dishonored 2 dlc that starred a black lesbian with a disability sold very poorly despite reviewing very well. Publishers and devs take notice of that sort of thing and I can't blame them. It's just business, whether the journos like it or not.
Imho, the cringe-worthy thing is that any explanation is needed at all. Games makers and their publishers make games based on all sorts of reasons, profit being the main one. If they want to play it safe, I don't blame them and they shouldn't need to defend it.
Anyway, I agree with you wholeheartedly about the personality/writing being the key to making a character special.
Nonsense article.
1: Race shouldn't matter, just good writing. That's what makes a great, memorable character.
2: The game hasn't come out yet so how can anyone judge? Unless, of course, the person in question is relying solely on appearances.....which is dumb beyond belief. I guess journo school forgot to teach its students the old saying, 'Don't judge a video game character by their race'. Or was it something about books? ...
Yeah, I might be wrong but I think that the success of GTA 5 on PC means they won't want to pass up on that money. I know I wouldn't!
Yeah, it wasn't terrible, I may have over emphasised the views of critics who didn't like it. Like Days Gone, funnily enough, it ended up with a very similar score, 74 as opposed to DG's 71.
I think word of mouth helped the game a lot though. When it came to reviewing the enhanced edition with expansion, the game got great scores.....almost like the reviewers realised how popular it was with actual players and decided not to piss into the wind.
Well, I think your statement about the sales is more pertinent than mine but I'm basing my comment on the many people who stuck up for the game, myself included.
That, together with the low 80's user score on meta, means that I got the strong impression that people who'd played the game were helping the games reputation by word of mouth. I'd also like to think that it was word of mouth from players that allowed the sales to stay strong during the first mont...
Might be? Lol, of course it will, it's a massive cash cow for R*.
They might even do a 60fps remaster for next gen consoles too. After all, there's nothing like selling the same game 5 times over :)
Yeah, whilst many critics bizarrely focused on 'ludo-narrative dissonance', a 'bland, American, white, male protagonist', 'weak, uninspired story' and 'zombie fatigue', players loved the sheer fun of the free flowing gameplay.
It was, in many ways, a game in the purest sense; just a great game that felt a blast to play from a hands-on perspective.
Thank god the gaming community gave it such good word of mouth. A similar t...
Yeah, having the disc used to mean a lot to me but once I started using Steam I stopped caring pretty quickly.
Simply keeping all the discs I'd have by now would be a pain. If they get damaged you've lost the game entirely. Many older games simply didn't work straight from install, they needed patches from companies that no longer existed or were hard to find and configure. In the last few years before I moved to Steam you couldn't lend pc games as easi...
Yeah, you're not wrong about F.E.A.R, the enemies felt like they were working together and really had it in for you.
