Such a strong reaction from so many people to the very idea of a threat to single player gaming is indicative of just how profoundly important it is to a large sector of gamers. I hope that those with a stake in the industry are paying attention.
The nightmare scenario of a world with only multiplayer and online-only games would never see another dime from me... and I spend A LOT of money on games.
Provocative garbage purely designed to get you to click through another one-title-per-page article so they can serve as many ads as possible. Don't bother.
Really? I read a notification in the beta that offline saves would be part of the final release. I enjoyed the arcade mode in the beta but decided not to buy because of the online-only aspect -until I saw the notice.
Well, that's a deal breaker for me.
It's also just interesting to see how someone else approaches a game you've already played through.
Don't give them any ideas...
lol. That's pretty funny. I think there's a lot of copy/pasting going on...
"reviled"? Really?
That's not even a typo. The i is nowhere near the e and a on a keyboard.
Whatever.
The sales of Destiny/Destiny 2 are completely irrelevant to the physical vs digital argument. Essentially buyers have been given no choice even if they buy the initial install disc, it's still a digital download because ALWAYS ONLINE.
I always buy my games on disc and I bought Destiny download version because the SINGULAR reason to buy it off the shelf is if you have crappy internet speeds. It's the only reason to buy ANY online-only game on disc.
No, but they do need to be average at worst.
Me too. Definitely.
More one-per-page garbage from clickvulture.
Of course they are. Most devs are working on some unannounced project at any one time. Non-story.
"Horrifying"? really? Hyperbole much?
H.R. Giger not "geiger".
@WePlayDirty
Of course a theme is a means to personalize your console, whether it's free or not. This particular theme is an advertisement for a game, therefore it ought to be considered a promo, not a product to be sold.
I agree.
MGS V: Phantom Pain is indeed a masterpiece.
Easily in my top 10 list of favourite games of all time... after 4 decades of gaming.
I played for 5 months solid. Never got bored -just finally completed pretty much everything there was to do.
I'm jealous of anyone experiencing for the first time.
To anyone saying this is the least of the series; I'd argue you're nostalgically rooted in outdated gameplay. The story had been great ...
@WePlayDirty
What's "stingy" is expecting someone to PAY YOU for what is essentially an advert for your upcoming product.
I guess you don't remember the days when companies used to bend over backwards to get you to look at their ads, watch their promos, play their demos in the hope that you'll remember their product when it hits the shelves.
Now they expect you to give them money for the privilege of looking at an ad for their product...
Same story here. Same story for me every month. I guess all those downvoters are just certain that you DON'T already own the games.
Yeah, I enjoyed it too. Some really funny stuff in there.
I agree. It's been a non-stop barrage since the Visceral story.
So many articles about the imminent death of single player games ARE unnerving though, to those of us that hold them dear.
