a game length of 50 hours is great. Plus they have talked about DLC since the game was first announced.

I'm about 105 hours into Oblivion and about 20% into the main quest by my best guess. I've dwnld Knights of the Nine, but haven't gotten to it yet, and I'll get Shivering Isles also. My point is that I love a game that gives the sense of "never-ending", but too many of those games would be overwhelming.

The other thing is replay value. Bioware gam...

With this and recent news of Sony's ability to produce PS3's for less - enabling a price drop sooner than originally expected, things are finally looking hopeful for Sony - after so many doomsayers and bad press.

I have a 360 and passed on the HD-DVD drive until this thing gets sorted out. I know I'll be getting a PS3 eventually, so why get an HD-DVD drive if Blu-Ray becomes the next standard format?

Also, I've noticed a definite increase in Blu-Ray advertising ...

this game can use DirectX 10 on the 360, but Crysis can't?

I've never understood this whole issue. All I know is that valve managed to squeeze HL2 into the XBOX - and it was pretty decent. Sure the graphics weren't near PC quality, but us XBOX owners got to play a great game all the same.

As a console gamer, I don't expect the graphics to match a top end PC.
Crysis could be made for the 360/PS3, and I wish the developers would get over their obsession wi...

This fall is looking mighty crowded already and though this summer looks to be far better than last summer for the 360, I was banking on this for summer fun.

HL is one of the few franchises that could stand up to Halo 3, so it should be fine - as will MGS4, but other unknown quantities like Kane and Lynch, Timeshift and other new IP's could be seeing the bargain bin sooner rather than later.

I was thinking about upgrading to an LCD in the next year. Perhaps i'll wait a bit longer...the main issue is screen size since mine is 4:3 and that makes for an approximate 30" screen in 16:9 - not quite the 65" I have my eye on.

but it is interesting to watch. Big companies jockying for position - buying smaller companies, securing exclusives - or getting once-exclusives on their system also.

I guess just like a person likes to see two guys or girls fight over/for them, I like seeing MS, Sony, PC developers and Nintendo fighting for my entertainment dollar. I never had any interest in business before, but the gaming industry is fascinating to watch - at least I think so.

Isn't this what EVERYONE has been saying for the last 2 years?? That this was going to be close! I say GREAT!! That way all three have to innovate and keep fighting to get an edge. You've heard it before - competition means the customer wins - that's you and me BTW...

I would rather have so many great games come out that I cannot afford them or have time to play them, than for one company to dominate and turn out junk because there is no alternative for the customer...

They have ridiculous articles and so little actual info, that I can read through the junk in about 15 minutes.

And I mean that in the best possible way. My bro-in-law and I managed to get in a co-op game together on the demo. Within 5 minutes, we were laughing hysterically and saying "I'm buying this one!"

Sometimes I'm too stressed to play a Clancy game - where there is little room for error. I see Crackdown as a punching bag - a great way to de-stress. Just running around, driving over everyone, throwing cars around - forget the story line - I see this as a game I'll be ...

and we all know how GamePro can be generous with its reviews, but one quote stuck out that I agree with, having played the demo: "Crackdown is ridiculously fun, and that Halo 3 beta code might go unused for longer than you think." - March 2007 issue GamePro

So, the 3 EGM scores, the GamePro score and the OXM UK score(a 9/10) average to: 8.6, and if we remove the high/low, we get 8.83 (averaging 9,9,8.5)

Not that reviews matter all that much, but I do u...

It cheapens the perception of the game...but then again, Sony did a GT3 bundle that sold very well as I recall...and MS had a Blue Dragon bundle in Japan that sold out, so you may be right!

Think about it - Halo 3 is a system seller, and the 360's biggest gun.

My guess is that we will not see a significant price drop - $50-$100 until spring 2008.

I could see a $20--30 drop - the way the PS2 went from $149.99 to $129.99 (which I believe it did to compete with the Xbox at $149 since the PS2 requires the additional expense of memory cards.

That said, a $50 drop right before Halo 3 launches could move that many more systems - heck a $60 ...

Seriously, just 2 days ago, I fired up the XBOX version. I had purchased it over a year ago for pretty cheap because it had received pretty good reviews.

So far, its a fun game...but I won't be broken hearted if it stays PS3 exclusive...I just may have to wait for 2 years to play it - when I'm guessing there will have been a price drop and I buy a PS3.

how Sony fanboys attacked this game - now it will be their only sandbox game until GTA 4 comes out.

I guess one indicator will be how games sell 2-4 years from now - as well as systems after the novelty has worn off.

And you are right that the average videogame consumer is very different from us on thse forums as far as how informed they are about the various systems.

I picked up a PS2 for Christmas and FFX, FFXII, God of War, MGS:Subsistence.
Two weeks ago, I saw the DMC anniversary edition - all three games for 30 bone. Could not pass that up.

Haven't played them yet, but I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

It might be awhile before I get a PS3 - I'll likely try to get a 1080P TV first, but I can always go back and get the games that I wanted to play.

I actually bought 2 cheapo DVD players and they work great - one for my kids to watch Bob the Builder and Thomas the Train - and one for the HDTV that the 360 is connected to.

I have a launch 360, have never had any problems - why add wear when I don't have to?

I love my 360, and I had never watched a movie on it until recently - it was the videogame/horror movie with Sophia Bush - can't remember the name. I usually watch movies on a cheap $39.99 DVD deal I bought when my original XBOX started freezing during movies.

The movie looked like a VHS tape. I watched it all the way through and afterward put it in my cheap DVD player and watched some scenes, and it looked better!

I don't really care - I have a system select...

I need to get my hands on it before I'll be convinced, but I don't think most people "impulse buy" $300 plus items - the wii plus one game.

Although, considering the amount of consumer debt in the country, maybe I'm wrong!
