I think part of the PSP's problem is competition with the other forms of entertainment - these boards for instance.
When I'm away from home, I don't have much time to play anything - when you look at ipods, the internet, movies, TV = there is so much out there.
When I am at home, I want to play a console - not a handheld. If I had more time, I'd get a PSP today.

I don't mind keeping the big box around - its almost like retro gaming now, and its been good to me. About half of my library is BC - that leaves about 30 games that are not.
PS Home is brilliant - very cool - I'm sure it will have a huge following, BUT, for those of us who just want to play online and find our friends easily, LIVE works great.
Its not a matter of which is better, its what appeals to your personal tastes. I'm sure I'll check it out when I eventually do get a PS3, but I think I'd rather be playing MGS4 and FFXIII.

I love Advance Wars - and even AoEmpires. The stylus works great, and these games appeal to the more mature gamer as well.
I only have time to play games...not mess around with all this other stuff. LIVE allows me to connect to others to play online matches and chat while playing games. That is all I want to do!
I have enough trouble keeping my real world in order, why do I want/need to mess around with a virtual world?
I "hang out" and socialize in the real world. Though, this forum is a form of virtual world, isn't it? - But I'm at work and my usual weekly meeting was cancelled so I have some free time.
Look, I wasn't bashing the idea. I just said that my game time is to actually play games. I'd love to have the time to play a MMO or explore what is offered by this "Home". I just don't have the time. For people who do, I'm sure it will be great.

I think its a cool idea, but I don't see what the hype is all about.
I think the concept is brilliant and creative. And people who lose hours upon hours on MySpace will probably love this.
But as a guy with 2 jobs, a wife and kids, I don't have time to mess around with this(I use my gaming time to play games), so though it is really cool, it reality, it won't get much use by me and, therefore is not a selling feature.

It's more than the graphics, the chainsaw, the music. It has the intangibles that put it above others.
For example, I love the GRAW games - bought GRAW 2 yesterday - GREAT games all around - graphics, gameplay, LIVE play...but they do not have that "something" that Gears has.
I wish I could put my finger on it...Zelda:Ocarina in Time had it, and so did RE4. God of War flirted with this too. Any thoughts?
Look, so far, the Far Cries, Red Steels and others have not done well critically. Go to gamerankings.com, and you'll see that other than Zelda, most games are average at best for the system and the multiplatform titles are getting poor reviews. Every console - scratch that - MOST consoles take a bit to ramp up. As a 360 owner, I was hoping this would happen soon. What!?! Ok, get up off the floor.
I'm a multi-console gamer, so I'll get a PS3 eventually, but I want a bloody battle between these two for supremecy. I want Killzone to rival Halo 3. I want Mass Effect to raise the bar for RPGs. I want Assassin's creed to be equal and amazing for both systems. I want separate exclusive content for each on GTA 4.

When a game does well in its preview one month before it is scheduled to come out, I allow myseldf to get excited. Before that...delays, cancellations and overall disappointments are the norm.
Sony is still working out the kinks - it will be great eventually, I'm sure, but if you want great online gaming right now, LIVE is the way to go.
And MS now has the infastructure to make adjustments quickly. There will be a response to PS Home - expect these two to be going back and forth for a long time.
In the end , it will be a matter of preference, as it is with the systmes, with each having their share of strenghts and weaknesses compared to the other.
Nintendo has top notch first party games - Zelda, Metroid, Mario, but you will wait forever between these titles and third-party is terrible(multi-platform games), as are most third-party Nintendo exclusive games. (RE4 is the big exception - though it went to the PS2 eventually)
If you buy a Wii to do anything other than play Nintendo's first-party games, you will be disappointed.

I've read that the image quality is supposed to be equal - even that HD-DVD is marginally better.
However, if I was your average Joe off the street, walking into my local Best Buy and checking out the two displays, the Blu-Ray was clearly superior. For whatever reason - bad cables, a less worthy TV, the HD-DVD demo picture looked just like the other TVs in the "TV section" going through their display loop.
