It got good reviews, but I waited and picked it up for $19.99 almost a year after it released, and I would have paid full price for it.
Drive anything, pick up any weapon, and Max Payne style shooting(third person, but controls like a FPS) Also, great explosions, air drops for supplies, ammo, weapons packs.
Yes, the PS3 is an amazing piece of hardware...that currently does not have any games that justify paying the hefty price.
Reasonable people know it is only a matter of time before the PS3 really is a "bargain" to the general public. This will be when reality finally meets promised potential. I give it one year from now.
I'm going to use simple numbers to explain my point...
Let's say it takes 100 man hours and $1000 for EA to make Madden 08 for the 360 - achieving a level of graphics/gameplay they are happy with.
It may take EA 120 man hours and $1200 comparitively for EA to achieve the same level of performance on the PS3.
So, a third-party developer is going to try to keep development costs to a minimum. This means that either - the PS3 version will be less som...
I love shooters, but you can only kill so many aliens, nazis, zombies.
And though shooters like Bioshock look to be innovative, I'm excited about these RPGs and the prospect of new IPs.
When some AAA games come along - MGS, FFXIII, and there is a price drop.
When all that happens, you'll see me in a line purchasing one.
And Sony is finally getting it? I guess because Sony says social gaming is important, it now actually is. Kinda like the next generation began when THEY say it did.
Look, I own and like Sony products (no PS3 yet, but hopefully soon), so I'm no fanboy, but these guys(execs for Sony, MS and Nintendo) just need to shut up - or at least hire speech writers or PR people to communicate for them.
I'm now buying games purely for LIVE play - great example - I'll be picking up GRAW 2 tomorrow. The SP campaign is nothing "new" according to the latest OXM, but LIVE play is amazing.
Developers are coming out with more interesting game types rather than deathmatch and CTF...
The LIVE interface is so easy to use - its so accessible to noobs.
And most important, I'm having fun. The community seems to be better - I haven't had a bad exper...
Game length, do the controls work, and did it keep the reviewers' attention.
If I choose to buy a game, length - including the prowess of online play will determine whether it is a buy now or buy after a price drop - or even a rent.
Controls are obvious - remember Dino Crisis 3 anyone?
And is the game just another carbon copy shooter or button mashing action game?
Again - I check multiple reviews as well as forums for those brave ear...
I've been slowly working through FFXII on nights I work late - started reserving the RPGs for those nights after getting pwned on LIVE for being too tired and slow on the reflexes.
And I still have XBOX games and a few GC games left unfinished - like Zelda:TP and Mercenaries for example.
this is very creative. One of the achievements people were proud of early on with the 360 was Call of Duty 2 on Veteran difficulty. How cool would it be to have a huge virtual plaque or trophy to display in your virtual house?
I'm not an achievement junkie, but even so, this is very innovative and has success written all over it.
One key is whether Sony can maintain its service for "free".
My purchase of a PS3 is a reality whose time si...
My last name is "Bonafide"(yes, truly) and my friends called me "Bone" and "Magnus" comes from Magnus Samuelson and Magnus Magnussen - two "Worlds Strongest Men" greats. Also, I like Magnus because of the Magi implication...
I wanted to name my son Magnus, but my wife said "no" - but when we get a huge male German Shepherd - Magnus it will be!
You see I'm a gamer as opposed to a fanboy, so I bought a PS2 to go along with my Xbox and 360 and GC...
Saturday, I bought Shadow of the Colossus for $14.99 at Target. Talk about value for my gaming dollar!
I have a brand new PS2, memory card and most of the top games for less than half the price of a PS3...
that you could get a second job(or first one for that matter) and be able to afford all three systems and this issue would be moot?
Nothing unrealistic about these announcements, and I'm starting to get excited about the PS3.
When they come out with the final version - a slimline that is under $300 - I'll get it.
guess I was wrong...live and learn ;)
that extreme people ruin or misrepresent the faith and alienate people with ignorant behavior.
A gaming console(with internet access), the beer I had last night with dinner, the large sharp knife I used to carve the turkey breast we made and the car I drove to work today are neutral inanimate objects.
Each, if used improperly, could cause harm to the user or someone else.
the key is the "user". Work on him/her and stop blaming the innocent objects.
so I don't have friends, and I don't have parties...just kidding.
My wife and I are hostages to our lovely 2 year old and 5 month old. I had to cancel Netflix because she was too tired to watch movies at night when I'm home from work. I'm a night owl, so I game after she goes to bed. Things will change, though, and she was intrigued by the Wii when I showed it to her at Best Buy.
So, I'm sure we'll have a Wii eventually - especially when I'm able to get my hand...
then they need to stop making ports of hardcore games that stink - like Far Cry and COD3 and focus on games that will appeal to this new audience.
I'd be willing to be that your wife and mother-in-law and not playing Red Steel.
I want to know what is available NOW, and the answer is very little.
If these things Sony is promising actually happen - and are quality offerings...then I will be convinced. Still no reason to buy a PS3 right now, I'm sorry.
I'm not going to buy a $600 console for future games. I will buy a PS3 when MGS4, FFXIII and a few others are actually on store sheleves and they lived up to the hype.
I know I sound cynical, and what Sony said sounds good. ...
