A great bargain! I can play all the PS exclusive games I missed out on and get my next-gen on with my 360.
I passed on Saints Row - young kids in the house etc, but in this game, you are the good guy.
Been keeping my fingers crossed that it would be good...
I bought it at release and tried to defend my liking it so I didn't feel bad about having blown $60. The "shoot the red and blue ghost witch things whn you die and warp right back" was essentially a God-Mode - it ruined it for me. Plus, the enemies were too few and too similar.
Fortunately, I was able to get $38 on a trade-in.
When Prey released, there had been a drought of 360 releases - this is why it succeeded.
In retrospect, it is...
I bought both at release and have beaten GRAW and am trying to beat RAM on hardcore.
Both games are fantastic - but different. I just don't think a comparison needs to be made.
Hasn't anyone learned from Sony and MS executives? Trash-talking just makes you look insecure and ignorant.
You must be some kind of alien or supernatural being. You communicate in an articulate manner, and moreover, you use actual reason in defense of your views.
There is a decided lack of fanboyism in your post and the result is a *gasp* FAIR assessment.
Nicely done - its nice to know that there are reasonable gamers out there.
I wonder what resolution they are referring to. 1080p is still very expensive comparatively. Also, this should mean that rear-projection sets should be dropping a lot also.
First of all, the game SEEMS promising, but you never know until it actually comes out.
Second of all, its not like there are not tons of great console games to play right now and scheduled to come later - whatever your console of choice.
Its just one of those facts of life - most people cannot play EVERY great game on EVERY system/format. Most of us gamers have to pick and choose and prioritize.
Case in point, I recently decided to pick up a PS2 ...
then MS can stop brand loyalty for Sony. i'm not saying it WILL happen, but it certainly is a possibility.
Look at Honda and Toyota - they have usurped brand loyalty to GM - most people want the best product - regardless of name - (this is not the fashion industry.)
guess I was wrong. Apparently between the lines it read: Immature, idiotic, senseless, and loser fanboy war waiting for YOU!! Come join all the fun!
You people are ruining this web site. I feel sorry for you. You all need to find a good therapist to find the true source of your angst.
Is a $11,000 PC THAT much better than a PS3/360? In my opinion, no, but there is a small group who does think so, and that is fine for them.
For me, $11,000 probalbly comes close to covering the money I'll spend on consoles and games for the next 15 years - having the latest consoles and games. That PC will be bottom of the barrel in 5 years tops. Heck, my $1500 laptop that I bought 4 years ago couldn't play the current games a year after its release due to a crappy graphics...
I love my 360, but as a gamer, there are some great games that are PS exclusive. I picked up God of War and MGS:Subsistence. I'll get FFXII for Christmas. My entire purchase - the system, memory card and those games - less $5 per game due to coupons put me at about $195 plus tax.
And, yes, I'm loving Gears and will get R6: Vegas soon, so there is plenty of love for my 360.
I'll slso be getting Zelda:TP for my 'Cube next week.
In the next two...
Here's my logic:
I own a 360 and love it - currently playing GOW and Oblivion and getting R6:Vegas soon - and looking forward to Bioshock and Mass Effect.
The PS3 is not available - and is very expensive - and has no MUST-PLAY games - YET.
The Wii has Zelda, but not much else I'm interested in - again, yet, and I have a 'Cube to play Zelda:TP (already pre-ordered through BestBuy.com)
The PS2 is $155 (system and 1 memory card)and has...
I love my 360, Xbox and 'Cube, but being a gamer means I want to play great games - including MGS 3:Subsistence, God of War, FFXII and others on the PS2.
So, last night, I went out and bought a PS2 - haven't had a chance to break it open yet - but how's this for a holiday season - Zelda: TP on the 'Cube, Gears of War and R6: Vegas on the 360, and the titles I already mentioned for the PS2.
So the fanboys can fight all they want - I'll just sit back and enjoy gr...
I own a Gc, Xbox and 360 - and love them all. The Wii doesn't interest me - yet - since I can get Zelda TP on the 'cube.
I want a PS2 for FFXII, Shadow of the Colossus and God of War and a few other games. It is a great bargain with the library it has. Besides, I'm a gamer, not a fanboy.
When I was little, my mom would take me to Woodfield all the time. We lived in Palatine at the time, and my grandparents lived in Deerfield...good memories...and yes, it is a HUGE shopping mecca for the Chicago area...
Excellent point about Europe! I hadn't considered that. They already have a bad taste in their mouth because of the delay, and the overall poor reviews could affect their willingness to purchase once it is there - or at least delay purchases until a must-have title comes out like MGS. But, if Europe is slow to adopt, it could affect developers' desire to program for the console.
They look at the potential revenue and its effect on stock prices - and they look long term.
The PS3 will be strong as will the other two consoles. The market for videogames is growing, so even if the numbers are more evenly dispearsed regarding market-share this generation, Sony still stands to make some serious coin along with MS and Nintendo.
Simple math - if the market was 100 gamers last gen and 60 owned a PS2, then they had 60% marketshare. However, if the market...
I bought a Panasonic 36" CRT HDTV - 1080i with 2 component inputs about 4 years ago. It was $700 less than the Sony that did have 720P. The TV works great with my Xbox and 360, and movies look great. It was far from the best available at the time, but it was a good value and an overall good TV.
I had no idea that it would be obsolete so soon. I guess us losers cannot see into the future.
The key is the systems "potential". I will purchase a PS3 when and if it meets that potential - which I'm very hopeful and confident it will - probably no later than next Christmas.
If the Wii is all about getting together with friends in front of the TV, this is about isolation.
I see this as one(albeit tiny) step toward Total Recall - where video entertainment is inevitably headed.
Your great, great grandkids will have a HD implanted in their brain that holds massive amounts of info and triggers your brain into seeing, smelling, feeling, etc...ever had the dream where you feel that you are falling and you FEEL it? Just like that.
