Is it interesting to anyone else that this news hits at the same time as the news about Resis Fall of Man being so large it requires Blu-Ray? Seems Sony is needing to sell the public that BR is the best format for games as well as movies...because without HDMI on the $500 version, you have just an expensive gaming console - as opposed to the $600 that can also play movies at true 1080p. (After you've purchased the $149 HDMI cable of course - check out the Circiut City link in this article) ...
Look, I own a nice laptop...Pentium 4M processor...but NO 3-D graphics!!!
So, I play HL2 on my Xbox - a console that retailed for $149 at the time of the game's release.
Did I get the best graphics? No.
Did I get some framerate problems? Yes.
Did I have a blast playing the game?Absolutely!
A great game will be great when the graphics are turned down a notch. Heck - it was the same for Doom on the Xbox.
Don't tell me Crysis won't...
The key phrase is "very early test build". Anyone know what kind of game this is? Action, RPG, a combo?
I live in the middle of the U.S., and I've never even played a football(soccer) videogame - and I have no intention of ever playing one.
However, unlike some of the people on these forums who speak as though they hold degrees in finance, business and economics from Harvard, I'll defer analysis of the importance to those of you who know.
What I hear you saying is that this is as big as if MS got exclusive rights to American football. If that were the case, the PS3 would ...
This happens with every company every time - overly ambitious launch plans that don't pan out. I don't see this as a disappointment - just par for the course for the industry.
I may have to get the onyx one and give my wife my white one...she's not big on pink.
Sony will be on home turf for the TGS - preaching to the choir, if you will. Japanese gamers will feel good that Sony saved the party for them.
I can't wait to finally see how these games play. It's put up or shut up time. Personally, I expect the ususal - a few really good games, and majority of pretty average games, and a few that are a waste...its just how launches go.
for my wife - she likes the retro games and has trouble with the complexity of 3-D games. but she kicks my butt and Ms. Pac-Man as it is...hmmmmm...need to think about this
This is an intereting move - it might be a response to Nintendo's efforts to make gaming more accessible to the general public.
This game is kind of a staple for me. I just hope that they add something new and fresh - while keeping the core essence the same.
Can't wait to get my hands on these. The DS Lite kiosk led to me buying my first hand-held in over a decade.
I really hope Zelda is playable. I'm still undecided whether I should go ahead and get the GC version or, if I like the Wii, if I should wait until I get the new console.
...for the heads up, but I read it right the first time ;)
It will be interesting to see how the 360 does this holiday - they should be sitting on store shelves - ready and waiting, while the PS3s and Wiis will be long since gone. Last November, there were people passing on a 360 to wait for the PS3, and now those people will not have long to wait if they can't land one at launch, AND it will be a known commodity - meaning we'll know what it and the games are actually like.

Look, I love my 360, and I will likely get a PS3 when funds allow and there are a decent amount of must-play exclusive games, but what really matters is not who wins, but how the industry as a whole is doing.
MS released encouraging info about shipping 10 million units by the holidays and a high add-on rate. EVERYONE should rejoice at this news. If Sony or MS do well, then ALL gamers win. If one company drives the other from the market, then their is no competition and the qual...
This is good news for ALL gamers- whether you own/want a 360 or not. It shows the industry is doing well - people want to play new and better games. The more we have the big three busting their balls to earn our gaming dollar, the better consoles hardware and games we'll have!
Look, I know at some point in the future, I will NEED a PS3 because of some games I MUST play - exclusive to the system - and I will feel it is worth the price. However, at this time, I'm just not convinced. Here's how I look at it. I could buy a PS3 and one game or 10 games plus renew my LIVE subscription for another year for my 360. The kicker is that I know of at least 15-20 games I'm going to want to play for the 360 coming out in the next few months...
C'mon, Sony, if ...
I hadn't owned a handheld since Sega's GameGear. I got my hands on the DS Lite at Best Buy and bought it immediately. Since then, they've been kinda hard to find. I love the system - especially the turn based strategy games - Armor Wars and Ages of Empire.
Command and Conquer 3 on the 360??? God does love me!!!!
I'm with you, DJ - I check many reviews...and a score of 7 makes me nervous.
I guess I'm not as hard core as
I thought!
If I played that much, my eyes would fall out of my skull...anyone ever hear of too much of a good thing?
The PS3 is a new entity - the "uber" console. Sony is taking a risk, and they know it, but they are betting it will pay off big - much like the Wii is a risk for Nintendo. Will these risks pay off? Only time will tell.
You all realize that we, the consumers, decide what consoles sell, right! The companies do their best to put out an appealing product, but ultimately, I decide how I spend my money.
What I meant was MS included the cables necessary to maximize the potential of the system on the premium 360 version, while Sony is NOT including the necessary cables to maximize the potential of their premium version. Understand?
