For me, the comments regarding the immense complexity and diversity of the three factions that makes a casual skirmish difficult is a turn-off.
For die-hard fans of the genre, I understand that this is music to your ears, but the RTS genre does not lend itself to pick-up and play like a shooter. You need to focus on one game - and even one faction to be competitive. This limits the online accessiblility of these games.
I own both BFME2 and C&C 3 for the 360...
Remember COD2 - horrible lag at first, but they fixed it.
Here's why - they are coming out with new maps very soon, and likely more after that. This game could be a cash cow for awhile if they keep it running well - they don't want to lose that opportunity and turn off potential sales.
There could be new weapons, perks, maps, match types(I'm still waiting for "War" from COD3 - Domination is good, but I miss the moving up the frontline aspect - and I ...
It's actually worth trying to earn it now! I use the M16 quite a bit and have one set up with a red dot for smaller maps and an ACOG for larger maps.
but stabbing the monsters really felt like I was stabbing into firm fleshy muscle. It really made it feel that I was causing "massive damage" to the creature. (Sorry for the joke - couldn't resist!)
I can't believe I almost passed this game up - and bought it because I happened across it on sale at Target for $14.99 about 18 months ago.
I'll be there day one for the sequel.
The white PS3 would look great sitting next to my 360 in my entertainment center. Just waiting for 2 things - the dualshock 3 to be included and a $299 price.
I wonder if they will ever make a smaller version like they did for the previous consoles. My slim PS2 is a thing of beauty - that so much gaming goodness could come out of something so small...amazing!
I will wait before buying the next new MS console until there is feedback about its dependability. My bro-in-law is on his fourth 360, and there are other friends who have had similar experiences.
I shouldn't be considering myself lucky that my 360 still works, and that it has been a great ownership experience all around - that should be the norm.
Last night was ridiculous - people singing Guns-N-Roses - and poorly at that - and slams on every race/creed/orientation. I'm a hetero white protestant male, so it doesn't offend me personally, but I just don't want to hear all that crap. I'd take off my headset altogether, but my buds actually play as a team and communicate.
I'm down for some trash-talking, and a few cuss words - no big deal.
Lately, I've been leaving A LOT of negative feedback.
...
If you wait long enough, the game you want will drop in price - both new and used versions.
I saw Just Cause the other day at Circuit City for $14.99 - I didn't buy it, but deals are out there.
Its a manner of prioritizing how much I want a game - and what I'm willing to pay for it. For example, R6:Vegas 2 is a launch purchase for me, but I'm waiting for Assassin's Creed to hit $29.99 - the main reason is AC is not a MP game, so it doesn't matter if I wait to pl...
Wahooo!!! Uh, sorry, for the outburst, but I love me some Rainbow 6!
I'll wait for reviews of the retail version, but since I've played more on LIVE in the last 3-4 months than the previous 2 years combined - becoming more competitive, any edge I can get is welcome.
I was initially excited when it got delayed from fall 2007 so that it would receive more polish, and I'd have money in my game budget.
The gameplay is very last-gen. I'd rather play through Doom 3 or Wolfenstein again if I want a fix of last-gen shooters.
If you did, you know that this guy has no credibility. I think this game would run on my 2 year old free-with-contract cell phone. And this is in no way intended to insult the PS3's potential power - which I'm sure is huge - just want to be clear on that - I'm PRO PS3!!!(And 360 too of course)
Seriously, you can tell from my bubbles that I don't hate - the demo was really that bad, and if it was an "early build", the developer should have known better than to releas...
PS3 owners are not missing a thing!
I'm saving up all year. Then I'll get my PS3 - so I can see it in its 1080P glory. It will mean waiting in MGS4 and a few others - but it will be worth the wait.
And don't think I'll be suffering in the meantime - my 360 is hooked up tp a 1080i TV - and it looks great.
I'll be getting the 360 version - as I do not yet have a PS3, but I'm sure it will control fine - Ninja Gaiden on the 'Box worked great...but I'm sure I'll have a PS3 by the time God of War 3 comes out!
Anyway, I'm so glad this game turned out well - sometimes highly anticipated games fall short.
Some people gave up on the 360 due to the RROD, but the LIVE issues, while annoying(still having problems last night), are not going to make a significant number of people give up their 360.
I think a significant number of people will own both systems - eventually - depending on their budget. There are too many exclusives on both systems to not get both, in my humble opinion.
Like you all said - been there, done that. More monster to kill - ho hum...
This is how far we've come - simply amazing. Can't wait to see what they are able to do with 30 more years!
and the manager who said it "Came that way" is a complete idiot.
When we reach this point - where we can plug ourselves into a world that is indistinguishable from reality(except for zombies and aliens to shoot with plasma guns) - gamers and developers will be satisfied.
I'm really curious to see the final reviews of MGS4 - to see if his disappointments are based on an unrealistic perfectionistic vision or whether the game itself is lacking. I'm guessing its the former - meaning the game in and of itself is great.
