If either console blocks used games, I'd be somewhat okay with it IF they did a few things.. 1) quick discounts on games, within 3 months of release. That's pretty much how it is now, but make it mandatory. 2) Since renting a game would be impossible, EVERY GAME gets a demo within a month before/after release or a 1 hour free trial, like with a lot games on Playstation Plus now! I want to be able to try it before I buy it.

I figure what at least Sony will do is make it where you can play the game on a certain number of consoles, like with digital downloads on the PS3 now, you can play them on 2 consoles. (They use to allow 5.)

I've never had to do it with the PS3, but Microsoft allows you to transfer your game licenses from 1 console to another once a year. So, if your console breaks or you get an upgraded model, they could do that.

I think it means Sony is waiting to see what Microsoft is going to do and weigh in on the positives and negatives. The mere fact Sony is saying "maybe" tells me that the PS4 is definitely capable of blocking used games if they should choose at some point in time to go that route. Just because it supports used games at launch, doesn't mean either console will by the end of it's life cycle.

EA's way of hinting to Sony.. "We want to charge more for our games, so our CEOs can continue buying new sport cars every month."

This is why used games sales are a necessity. Not because it gives gamers a "cheaper option", but because it forces companies like EA and Activision to maintain pricing that can compete with used game sales. You eliminate the used game market, there is nothing stopping these companies from jacking up the price on games to...

I don't expect to see a huge difference in PS3 and PS4 games in the beginning. PS3 games showcase some amazing graphics, as is. The first Uncharted game, which came out like 7 years ago, stands up to anything out there today graphically.. and The Last Of Us, which will come out just a few months before the PS4 comes out is looking better than anything ever released. It's going to take time for developers to truly tap into the PS4's power and learn that they can get away with so...

I don't read reviews or "opinion" pieces that are posted here on N4G.. 2 reasons, "one man's trash is another man's riches" and you never know if the review/opinion is legit sincere or "bought".

Considering how greedy Microsoft tends to be, this is actually really AMAZING.

Too funny! I was kinda on the fence about getting this game, but after that, I think I'm going to get it.

@xursz

I don't think it'll matter. Sony put it's specs out there and depending on how you look at it, that could be favorable to Microsoft. The 720 doesn't have to be as powerful as the PS4, just as the 360 wasn't as powerful as the PS3. Game developers are going to cater to BOTH consoles regardless, just as they have this current gen. Microsoft could make a slightly weaker console, enabling them to charge LESS than Sony will charge for the PS4, which ...

I've never finished a Tomb Raider game.

They have to have something to talk about over donuts and coffee.

Competition is good for all involved. It gives gamers a choice, developers a bigger audience and keeps Sony and Microsoft on their toes. As great as you think the PS3 and/or Xbox 360 is, it would be nowhere near as great if it wasn't part of a competitive market.

I don't know if they'll go with a touch screen on the controller, since Microsoft is pushing it's "smart glass" technology. At this stage, it would be too late to add it just because that's what Sony is doing, too.

I expect this out of Microsoft: Blu-ray, Smart Glass, Windows 8 apps, an improved Kinect and Illumiroom. Maybe a new IP or 2.

That's how I see it, too. It'll be all about Windows 8 apps and, like with Windows 8 now, you'll have to pay extra for a lot of them. I think they'll try to lure in PC gamers with smart glass and they'll push Kinect and Illumiroom hard trying to lure in the casual "We like shiny things" market, while they push Xbox as a be all, end all entertainment console that can play a lot of the games you'll be able to play on Wii U and PS4, too.

CRACKDOWN.

I honestly don't think there is much Microsoft can do due to it's own stubborn limitations. Hardware specs could be identical, but we already know Microsoft isn't going to stray away from it's Windows 8 format and we know it's going to put the new Kinect it's been working up front above all else. (Kinect is what turned me off of Xbox to begin with.) And it's extremely doubtful they are going to STOP charging for what should be free features. So, what's left...

I loved the 1st one, but part 2 was horrendous. I couldn't even get halfway through it.

Man, I hope this doesn't mean an end to the Dead Space series. I just started playing Dead Space 3.. and I'm really getting into it, despite it being more action than horror. I was just thinking lastnight while playing it how GREAT graphically Dead Space 4 could be on PS4 with enhanced lighting and shading.

Maybe those of us who didn't get the $5 or $10 this week will get $20 next week??? Wishful thinking.

But it's still cool Sony has done this. Sony has actually been very generous this generation. Way more love than from Microsoft.

Sony pulled it off and still has plenty to show at E3. So, I don't see why Microsoft couldn't do the same.
