Hmm... my Gamestop let's me shift my money to another game pre-order or outright purchase if I decide not to buy a game after all, even well after it releases. I have plenty of time to look at reviews and reception. There's only the benefits of guaranteeing a copy and bonuses if they exist. Plus I pay $5 less later.
I'm not really losing anything, in my case.

I cannot for the life of me understand why they decided to put the main character brooding with a shotgun on the cover over Songbird. One we'll only glance at if we're lucky, the other is the iconic and menacing symbol of Columbia. I don't even have to mention which one would look more unique.
Last time I checked, the original Bioshock sold VERY well with its box art...

Awesome vistas and good-looking humans. Not entirely sold on how the aliens and robots look in that concept art, but we'll see.
No less distiguisable than most western videogame characters. Does she need a tattoo or a scar or something? Her character design looks quite good to me in her second outfit in those screens.
Anyway, I don't care about a (main) character's skin color. Or their sex or whatever else. As long as they're a *good* character.
The backrounds look very nice. I'm always a fan of the forerunner settings, too.
As far as side-quests and characters go Skyrim was quite shallow. Very little thought and effort was usually put into them. In that sense I agree with these guys, and from the article that's what they're talking about.
The world of Skyrim, however, was huge, very well crafted, and a joy to explore. There was a lot in it to keep it interesting and rewarding.

Pretty much. It's a common way to make an faction in the story, be it good or evil, interesting and/or threatening.
I like the idea of streaming games, but I don't know if it will be as great as it sounds. Anyone who has ever run videos or livestreams from the internet and such know how severe issues can commonly occur. Lag, freezing, ect.
That's annoying just for videos, imagine how terrible it could be for a videogame. Not to mention the tricks they could pull and error that could occur regarding consumer ownership.
Going purely of the metacritic scores, they don't look bad overall. Average or maybe slightly above. DNF and A:CM are the only real flops. Borderlands 2, as expected, is head and shoulders above the rest as their one brilliant gem.
I don't like the way people usually use the term overrated. Overrated only means you disagree with the majority or cult following of whatever franchise in question. Whatever one thinks overall of a videogame is entirely opinion.
A lot of the time it seems like people are trying to say "These people subjectively think it's good, but it's objectively bad. FACT." Maybe some don't mean it that way, but the wording and tone make it sound so.
The game has a lot of good ideas going for it with setting and story (and the customizable combos are neat), but the gameplay looks pretty rough. I'm not getting hopes up with it coming as soon as May.
I hope the game turns out well. It's got a lot of good ideas behind it and a new IP like that is always welcome.

I had many doubts this game was going to live up to the hopes people were placing on it, but I didn't think it would turn out this bad. I thought it might turn out mediocre, but instead it's a disaster.
