I'd certainly hope they are.
It's a story. Not a critique. A corrupt institution or person that happens to be religious in a fictional story in no way implies anything broader.
People are way too sensitive.
How funny, I just got Dishonored a week ago and am about half-way through it. It's a really fun game so far, I'll say that much.
No matter what they do, there's gonna be bugs. Their games are too big with too many intractable points and layered scripting to not have them.
I don't agree with the article.
Yeah, Lara's endurance, instant-badassness in mowing down hordes of cultists, and an arrow firing completely straight over a chasm is unrealistic, but that can be applied to any videogame. Far Cry 3 did the same thing and it was also a story of character growth, yet that was still an excellent game.
The new Lara is very likable and relatable, the shooting is rock-solid with an excellent cover system and relatively smart...
Besides the "Main character is also the villain." twist, which is actually in a very different context than time travel, the story is completely different from inFamous. You're completely oversimplifying it.
It's not just the alternate universes. There's a beautiful and fascinating city, an intriguing history, a civil war about racial tension, an emotional undercurrent with Elizabeth, marked and impactful character development, very cohesive themes and m...
I find it quite funny how every time a story tries to do something that requires the slightest bit of thinking and grasp of abstract concepts on the viewer's part it gets labelled pretentious and self-indulgent.
Just goes to show the kind of society we live in today.
The only thing I believe legitimately misled me was the scale of the environments indicated by the E3 demo. That's pretty much it.
But no, this game is actually good. The story and world were brilliant and the gameplay was enjoyable. Not a Molyneux.
I always thought the MGS stories were stupid with dragged dialogue and nonsensical, overused plot devices like nanomachines. And it tries to pass itself as a lot smarter than it really is. No offense to the fans, that's just my opinion.
Rising embraces the absurdity. I can appreciate that.
I think that's kind of the point, though. Columbia first appears to be a paradise, but then reveals itself to be quite the opposite. The first instance of violence in the game does a great job making reality come crashing down on the seemingly idyllic setting.
Booker's journey through Columbia first seems to be a simple rescue mission while manuevering through fanatical hordes, then you get the impression it's something far deeper and relevant to him.
I enjoyed the character-driven story over Bioshock's "museum" kind of storytelling. I'll even say the combat is more visceral and exciting, even if the pre-planning element of the first is mostly gone. Not getting the complaints about the vigors either, the game would be A LOT harder without them. I get some of the complaints of the game and I certainly have my own gripes, but the game is still really great to me.
But really, just more tacky score-talk. It...
He's right. Next-gen should also be about better AI, better physics, bigger spaces with more interactivity, ect.
This new Thief game being entirely based around dynamic shadows for stealth is a perfect example of next-gen tech being used to enhance gameplay.
Why do people act like 30FPS is unplayable? It's perfectly functional. Ask any console player.
"she seemed at best a liability..."
What footage did this guy watch? She's looked nothing but useful and interesting.
I have literally no history with this franchise, so any inconsistencies with previous games isn't going to bother me. I'm interested.
I can almost guarantee we won't have to pay for it, at least in the initial "season".
Bungie has been all about giving players an incentive to come back to the game for years after release, so something like this doesn't surprise me.
Obvious troll is obvious.
I completely disagree that TR has better character development. Lara only has about two moments of marked character developments from my perspective and the supporting cast of the game is entirely two-dimensional. Infinite has many developments and distinguished characters, especially with Elizabeth. I thought TR was great in many ways too, for the record.
They state the flaws, yet ignore them at the same time? Sounds like a contradiction to me. A game can have several notabl...
"If this game was reviewed by what it really is it would be around 7.8/10."
Or maybe a lot of people just like it more than you do and view some aspects you don't like differently. And perhaps they had different or less lofty expectations. Opinions, dude.
It's really amazing how many people try to pass their opinions on as fact without even realizing it. Terms like "overrated" and "underrated" wouldn't exist without t...
Their games typically sell very well and they have a good reputation with gamers, so what's their issue?
I like Bethesda for making good games that are actually worth $60, but come on. Just be glad for the success you have and that people want to play your game.
